Saudi Arabia - Obtain a Driving License with Foreign Driving License

Procedure

You are a Saudi Arabia resident. You hold a Foreign Driving License. You can obtain a Saudi Arabia driving license by converting the foreign license to Saudi Arabia driving license. Depend on the country that you got the foreign driving license, you may be required to take driving license test. To do it, please follow the below guiding:

1. Prepare the required documents:
   • Your original Iquamah (residence permit)
   • Copy of your Iquamah
   • Copy of your Passport
   • Your Foreign driving license, and its Arabic translation from an approved translation institute
   • Your medical report (blood group test)
   • Your color passport size photos
   • License fee (If you pay through your Iquamah ID and keep the voucher)
2. Make an appointment for your visit (optional)
   • Enter the Saudi Driving Licence through Portal link: https://www.sdlp.sa/login,
   • log in and complete the form,
   • register the application and
   • select a date for the appointment.
3. Visit a suitable driving school
   • Just follow your above appointment (if you have made your appointment) or you can head to a suitable driving school (reach by 7 am).
   • Present the required documents at the entrance gate.
   • You will be asked driving license fee by bank payment if you do not have the voucher.
   • From the shop, you will get application form which will be filled for you in Arabic then and enclosed in file cover.
   • Follow all of officer’s guiding to take your Eye-test, take the driving license test (if the foreign driving license is acknowledged by the Saudi Traffic Police then you will not have to take the test).
   • Collect your license, if you passed the test or repeat the process, if you did not pass.

Countries who are acknowledged by the Saudi Traffic Police to convert their driving licenses are United Kingdom, United States of America, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait. In additional, Canada, South Africa, Autralia, New Zealand and most western or European countries may be considered to skip the driving test.
