Step 1: You must first book an appointment for birth certificate through Ministry of Interior one month prior to when you are due.

How to book appointment online

  • Go to the MOI of Saudi Arabia website
  • Select E-Services and then Civil Affairs
  • In the civil affairs, select book appointments
  • Register your personal details and book your appointment.
  • Print out the appointment reservation transcript

Step 2: Get birth notification from the hospital

  • To get Saudi birth notification from the hospital, the required information is personal details of the baby’s parent like Nationality, Passport and Saudi Iqama numbers, then the hospital will provide you a document with the first name mentioned on the footprint of the new born child which you have to show to get the birth certificate of the child.

Step 3: Proceed to get the Baby’s Birth Certificate

  • After getting the Birth Notification, visit the department of Civil Affairs known as Ahwal Madina in Saudi Arabia. Make sure that you have all the required documents for this procedure, application form 87 for this procedure can be down loaded and filled in advance through this link: Application Form 87the form should be filled in Arabic, you can get a translator to assist in filling the form. (See sample document)
  • On arrival at the office, produce your appointment transcript to the receiving officer for verification, and you will be issued with a token number and wait for your turn.
  • Once your number is called proceed the counter with the operating officer and submit all the required documents. The operator will receive your documents to process your application.
  • Return to your sit and after a while he will call on your name and issued you with a birth certificate.

Step 4: After getting you the birth certificate you will need to take it to the ministry of Foreign Affairs office (MOFA) for attestation, Keep in mind that he provisional birth certificate is only valid for one year. The original birth certificate is issued after one when all the required medical vaccination of the baby is done.

  • Fill in the application through MOFA website MOFA
  • Select E-Service, under most used services, select Ratification services on documents.
  • Read down the page and click on start the service,
  • Fill in the form and make the necessary payments for the attestation.
  • Finally print the complete application form and visit MOFA office to get your attestation.
