- To Obtain a Burial Permit, the applicant has to approach the Canadian Government link
- Death certificates are available from Municipality city councils and to register the death of an individual, the applicant has to provide a death report from the hospital and evidence of burial from religious institutions.
- Applicant should make sure to carry all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and Originals).
- Applicant must attach the photocopies of the documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- If death occurs out of Canada, additional charges must be added to estimates for mileage and overland transportation costs between countries.
- If the applicant follows all the above-mentioned procedures properly, then the burial permit will be issued to the applicant within 7-21 days.
- If the applicant doesn’t get any information regarding the permit within 7-21 days, then, the applicant has to visit the office once again to get details on their application form.

Required DocumentsEdit
To obtain a new burial permit,
- Bring either a copy of the original death certificate
- If the applicant does not have a copy of the original forms, you will be required to complete a "Disinterment Form" before receiving the new burial permit.
- A medical certificate of death issued by the hospital or a death certificate
- A copy of the National Identity Card of the deceased or any other document certifying his identity
- Authorization of foreign consular services for the deceased (for foreigners).

- Death certificate
- Embalming certificate where applicable
- Sealing (of the coffin) certificate
- Export Permit and
- Air Waybill (Air Consignment Note) if by air.

- A burial permit is an official statement authorising the removal of the dead body (corpse) to the cemetery.

Local requirements and procedures for the exportation of human remains are
- Embalming of the remains.
- The enclosure of the remains as described in the Paragraph above.
- Copy of official death certificate from Ethiopian health authorities.
- Embalming certificate (Form A or B) from health authorities.
- Burial permit from the local health authorities.
- Consular Mortuary Certificate for shipment from the consular of your embassy
- Affidavit of Funeral Director for witnessing the packing of the remains to the foreign country, notarized by the Consul from the embassy.
- Expedition Permit of Human Remains
- The Final preparations for shipment are usually made in Lagos.
