Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. Pay the application fee for premises registration at the bank using the information provided in the “Fees” section below and obtain the payment receipt
2. Obtain the application form for registration of premises form the Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) office in your region and fill it accordingly
3. Attach all the required supporting documents to the application form including the payment receipt and submit the complete application to the FDA headquarters office in person at the reception of Pharmacovigilance and Food Safety Monitoring unit or send scanned copy of the application via email to the FDA through this email address: [email protected]
4. The FDA officer at the reception will receive the application and assess it if has all the required documents and issue you an acknowledgement receipt
5. Then the FDA will send an inspector to conduct a pre-registration inspection using an FDA checklist of that particular business and he will give his observation and recommendation on the stability of the premises
6. The inspector will make sure that all the information required in the FDA checklist is properly filled, signed and stamped by both you and the inspector and forward the results to the FDA
7. Upon receiving the application form, inspection check list, and all the required documents, the FDA director general will scrutinize the status of the application and issue an acknowledgement receipt approving the application, withholding or rejecting the application.
8. If your application is approved, you will be issued a notification letter allowing you to carry a trial run to obtain samples for product registration.
9. Once you have registered the product successfully, a premises registration certificate and operational license shall be issued to you.

Validity

• A certificate of registration is valid for one year, ending by June 30th each year. Application for renewal should made within 3 months prior to June 30th.
