- Visit the eRalis portal via this direct link: eRalis
- Enter your email address and password to login if you are a registered user or click on New User to create your account.
- In the registration form, choose to register as an individual or company and enter all the required information and then submit by clicking on the submit button
- Upon successful submission, you will receive a notification directing you to complete the registration via the link sent to your email inbox
- Go to your email account and click on the link provided to setup you password, make sure that the password matches the confirmation password for a successful setup, then click on the Home icon to login
- Fill in the online application form and upload all the required documents and then click on submit to send your application
- Once submitted, you will be able to see the progress of your application in your account and determine the results of the application through the keys provided i.e. pending, rejected or approved
- After the authority has checked and approved the application, it will inform the veterinary services in order to assist and supervise all activities related to the product preparation.
- The Rwanda Inspectorate, Competition and Consumer Protection Authority (RICA) will send an inspector for a pre-inspection of the product at the pack house where the products are being stored or before packing
- The inspector will inspect the product through all the processes that it may undergo and write a report based of the inspection results and leave after closing the boxes / bags.
- You will be required to sign the inspection result form and if your product did not meet the required standards, the inspector will advise you on areas to improve on
- The inspector will forward the results to the relevant authorities for informed decision making and preparing the phytosanitary certificate
- Once the certificate has been produced, you will need to visit the RICA office in person to collect it.
Note: For honey and milk, inspection takes place at the pack house of the RSB certified company. For each batch a certificate of analysis is required to ensure compliance with import conditions of importing country. Inspection of re-exports takes place at the storage place and an import permit is required.

- You must liaise with RICA to organise for the inspection appointment, specifying the location of the goods to be exported.
- Fresh meat from the slaughter which was inspected and approved for human consumption by the official veterinary inspector, shall be cut into quarters and kept in the cold room at a temperature between +4°C and 8°C. The quarters will be hang on hooks suspended from the metallic railing for at least 8 hours where the meat will mature and ooze.
