Procedure

How to Export

1. Your storage premise must be registered by obtaining the certificate of premises registration from the Rwanda Food and Drug Authority
2. Then obtain test report (certificate of analysis) form Rwanda Standard Board (RBD) and obtain license to export processed food product through the Pharmaceutical Regulatory Information Management System
3. Contact a clearing agent to assist you with the customs process that require a registered clearing agent, view the list of clearing agencies via this link: clearing agent
4. If you intend to export your product to EU, you will need to obtain a certificate of origin by having the clearing agent apply it through the Rwanda e-single window: Rwanda e-window you can also find out about the particular rules of origin that apply to the specific product and export market. 5. Then obtain an airway bill by:
   • Contacting an airline to book cargo space according to the weight of your cargo. Note, the booking must be done at least 24 hours prior to direct flights and 48 hours prior to transiting flights
   • Transport your cargo to the airport warehouse for cargo scanning, this must be done 6 hours before flight for security purposes at the presence of a police officer
   • Then cargo will be weighed and an airway bill will be prepared according to the weight and nature of the consignment
   • Obtain the airway bill and pay the prescribed amount at the bank
6. Clear the consignment by having your clearing agent declare the cargo online through the Rwanda e-system window: e-system and pay the prescribed clearance fee. NOTE: Payment can be made online on Rwanda Revenue Authority account at any of the commercial banks that provide that service, and via MTN Mobile Money, by selecting payment (#3) and Rwanda Revenue (#6).Once the payment is made, the Customs office gets an automatic notification in the electronic single window system so they can produce the release documents right away.
7. Finally you will obtain a release order and Exit note - Export allowing the product to proceed outside Rwanda

Eligibility

• Registered business owner who wish to export consignment of macadamia nuts

Fees

• The total fees is obtained based on several factors in several stages of the process of exporting, however the fee for processing online declaration RWF 3,000

Validity

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.

Instructions

• Only accredited clearing agents are able to access the ESW. The exporter submits all necessary documents to the clearing agent. The clearing agent prepares and submits online export declaration together with supporting documents.The customs officer verifies both the customs entry and the attached supporting documents.
