Rwanda - Applying for a Business Visa

Procedure

In person

You must possess a valid passport or other internationally recognized travel documents, which, in principle, contains a Business visa to enter into Rwanda obtained in advance from the nearest Rwandan embassy abroad before entering Rwanda.

• Review instructions based on the type of work you want to do in Rwanda basing on the following category A and B.
• Deposit a payment of RWF 50,000 for Category A workers
• Deposit RWF 10,000 if your Category B Workers
• Photocopy the receipts of the payments and attach the on the Application letter to the Director General of Immigration and Emigration.
• Complete the Application form , and sign
• Obtain a clearance from any police station the clearance can be in English or French.
• Add a copy of the trading business license.

Add a copy of annual tax clearance certificate

• Send all of the visa application requirement list listed above

Apply Online

You can also send in your visa application to the Director of immigration and Emigration. Online applications are issued at the immigration website. For more information visit www.migration.gov.rw.

Required Documents

• A valid original passport valid for 6 month beyond stay, with at least one blank visa page available for visa stamp (s). amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for visa stamps
• Global Service Order Form
• International Medical Certificate of Vaccination Showing Immunization Against Yellow Fever
• Proof of Departure; computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or travel agency or copy of airline tickets.
• One signed Rwanda visa application form plus one copy
• Two (2) recent 2x2 passport type photograph (s) in color, front view and with a plain or white background
• Business letter or a letter of invitation from Rwanda: A letter of invitation from the Host Company or sponsor in Rwanda explaining the relationship to the applicant and the purpose of travel to Rwanda. In addition, the letter must indicate the length of stay, place of stay, and hosts name and contact information.

Eligibility

• All people wishing to enter Rwanda with a valid passport.
• All people with internationally recognized travel documents with intention to do business in Rwanda.
• All visitors to Rwanda with Valid Visa with intention of opening up a business in Rwanda.
• All persons undertaking RWF 50,000(equivalent to USD 83) commercial pursuits in the Republic.

Fees

All persons undertaking Business Visa are required to pay RWF 50,000 (equivalent to USD 83)

Validity

• Single entry visa is valid for three (3) months
• Multiple entry visas issued within two days and is valid for one year(12) months

Processing Time

The processing time is four (4) to eight (8) business days. For Three (3) days with extra $30 on top of the regular visa charge.
In some cases though, it might take longer than the mentioned days depending on the nature of the applicants case

Instructions

At the point of entry, a 15 days temporary permit is granted. Persons living far from Rwandan Embassies or diplomatic mission can apply for entry facility at www.migration.gov.rw.

Visa is required by all visitors to Rwanda excluding nationals of the United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Hong Kong, Mauritius, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi.

Required Information

• Passport valid for at least six months
• One Clear Coloured photo
• Application letter to the Director General of Immigration and Emigration
• Completed application form
• Receipt of payment of RWF 50,000 for Category A workers and RWF 10,000 for Category B Workers
• Application letter to the Director General of Immigration and Emigration
• Completed application form
• Police clearance in English or French
• Signed CV of applicant
• A copy of business trading license
• A copy of annual tax certificate
• A memorandum of understanding for companies or associations

Need for the Document

Business visa is one given to an individual for engaging in commerce in Rwanda. These visas generally preclude permanent employment, for which a work visa would be required it is given by a competent authority of a country for a person who is not a citizen of Rwanda, to enter its territory and to remain there for a limited duration. People who want to visit Rwanda for certain kinds of "business" related travel can apply for a Business Visa.
