ProcedureEdit

  • You can use a marriage certificate to a acquire a national identity card.
  • Police clearance or a certificate certifying that the applicant has never been sentenced to more than six months in prison or he / she is not subject to legal proceedings.
  • A copy of passport or a copy of registration as a foreigner
  • Birth certificates of minor children born before or after the marriage to the Rwanda spouse and establishing the lineage with the two spouses.
  • Justification of shares common marital life for at least three(3)years and above by a certificate issued by the register of civil status at the place of their marriage or he/she residence
  • Two (2) colored size photograph with white a background
  • A receipt payment to the treasury of non refundable 5000 Rwf

By adoption

  • Filled in application form
  • A birth certificate
  • A certificate of adoption issued by competent authority
  • A copy of the identity card of the adopter
  • Two (2) colored passport photograph
  • A receipt payment to the treasury of non refundable 5000Rwf

Naturalization

  • Filled in application form
  • A birth certificate

  • A certificate of his/her occupation in the country issued by district authority where he/she operate
  • Two (2) colored passport photograph with a white background
  • A receipt payment to the treasury of non refundable 5000Rwf

By Rwandan Origin

  • Filled in application
  • A birth certificate
  • Proof in writing that they were living in a palace known as Rwanda
  • Two (2) colored passport photograph with a with background
  • A receipt payment to the treasury of non refundable 5000 Rwf

EligibilityEdit

By birth on Rwandan territory

  • Applicant must have a minimum age of 18 years and above

By marriage

  • Applicant has not been sentenced to more than six (6) months imprisonment or he or she is not subject to legal proceedings
  • Applicant must have shared a common marital life for at least three (3 ) years and above

By adoption

  • Applicant must be able to show the evidence of adoption

Naturalization

  • Applicant has never been sentenced to more than six (6) months imprisonment or is not subject to legal proceedings
  • Applicant must have stayed in Rwanda for at least five ( 5) years and above

By Rwandan Origin

  • Applicant must be living in Rwanda
  • Applicant should be able to bring at least three Rwandan witness who know him /her as Rwandan

The application fee for Rwandan National Identity card is 500 Rwf



ValidityEdit

It is valid as long as you remain alive, in other ward its has no expiring date.
