Apply InPersonEdit

  1. To apply for Permanent vehicle (Car, Bike, Motorcycle) registration in Rajasthan, the applicant has to approach the RTO office of the area.
  2. Registration of vehicle is done in three steps, first is to apply for registration of your vehicle along with the documents, the second step is to get approval from the financer (if applicable), the third step is to take the vehicle to the RTO office for inspection by the officer.
  3. Information related to the RTO offices and registering authority can be obtained from the “Office and Location” Section of this page.
  4. You will have to submit the Application in front of registering authority within seven days of purchase of the vehicle along with the documents.
  5. The application shall be made in application Form no-20, Form-21, and Form-34 to the RTO
  6. The application form no 20 can be downloaded through the following link: form no 20
  7. The application form no 21 (sale certificate) can be downloaded through the following link: form no 21
  8. The application form no 34 can be downloaded from the following link: form no 34 however, the form attested by vehicle financer is needed if the vehicle is purchased on loan.
  9. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down in the “Required Document” section of this page.
  10. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  11. Present the completed application forms in one of the counters and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  12. The physical inspection and verification of the vehicle will be done in the respective office with the Transport Inspector posted for this purpose.

Apply online via State PortalEdit

  1. You can also apply for vehicle registration online via state portal: State Portal
  2. Inspection of vehicle is to be done before processing for registration. For physical inspection and verification of the vehicle, you will have to present the vehicle to the respective office with the Transport Inspector posted for this purpose.
  3. Once the verification is done, the RTO officer will give log-in id and password, and further you can complete the process online.
  4. The payment of registration fees, if it is more than Rs. 5000 has to be done online. The online payment details can be obtained via the following link: Online payment

  7. You will be redirected to the national portal page where you can log in using the user id RTO office..

Apply Online via Vahan National e-registration serviceEdit

  1. You can also apply for a vehicle registeration through the National Portal, the following link will give you access to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India: Vahan, National e-registration service
  2. Applicant needs to take his vehicle for inspection and verification
  3. Applicant is given a user id and password at the RTO office
  4. After verification and inspection, applicant can complete the process online via the Vahan website.

Apply Online via National PortalEdit

  1. You can also visit website and select “vehicle related services” from the drop down menu of online services.
  2. Enter the vehicle’s registration number and click proceed
  3. Select the Service “RC Release” from the online service menu
  4. Enter Chassis Number and Mobile Number
  5. Fill the Applicant Details as instructed and required.
  6. Enter the OTP received and Click on Show details.
  7. Enter further details as per the form displayed.
  8. Click Submit and then Confirm and Make Payment
  9. Once Payment Done, Print Receipt.

ValidityEdit

  • Registration of a vehicle will be valid for 15 years from the date of issue of it and after that registration of non transport vehicle will be renewed according to the rules in every 5 years and the transport vehicle will be re-registered which will be valid for 15 years.

Guidelines for application
  1. Apply for permanent registration of a motor vehicle in Form 20 to the Registering Authority in whose jurisdiction the vehicle is
  2. If the vehicle has been temporarily registered then apply before the temporary registration expires
  3. Confirm whether the registration involves hypothecation in which case refer Hypothecation
  4. Confirm the type of registration number (Fancy number/Choice number/General number).
  5. Confirm about the usage requirement of HSRP/smart card
  6. Pay appropriate fee as specified in Rule 81 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 depending on the choice of registration number and use of HSRP/smart card
  7. Pay Tax as per Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 depending on the choice of registration number and use of HSRP/smart card

  • A vehicle registration certificate is an official document providing proof of registration of a motor vehicle. It is used primarily by governments as a means of ensuring that all road vehicles are on the national vehicle register, but is also used as a form of law enforcement and to facilitate change of ownership when buying and selling a vehicle. No person will run any motor vehicle in a public place or in any other place and will be allowed to own a motor vehicle while it is registered as per the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and the rules made thereunder.
