There are 2 ways through which you can apply for a driving license.
Apply online via State Portal
- You can also apply for driver license online via state portal: Link
- Select the 'online application submission facility for license' option at the Transport Department's web site.
- you will be redirected to new page Online Portal
- Click on “Apply”
- You will be redirected to the national portal page where you can apply as explained below.

Apply Online via National Portal - Rajasthan Apply for Driver License online with Images
- In order to apply for online, please follow the link : online portal
- Please select "Online Services" from the menu and click on "Driver License Related Services".
- You will be taken to a new screen where you have to select “Rajasthan” in the drop down menu against “Please select the State from where the service is to be taken”.
- Once you select the State, you will be redirected to the page, based on your selection.<br
- Click on apply online
- From the given options select “New Driving License
- Fill the Applicant Details as instructed
- Upload the required Documents mentioned on this page
- Upload Photo and Signature if required (applicable for only some states)
- DL Test Slot Booking (applicable for only some states)
- Pay the required fees
- The applicant, who holds a valid Learners' Licence, for a period of at least 30 days, shall be competent to appear for the test of competence.
- The test of competence will be conducted by the competent authority.
- The applicant should bring a vehicle of the type to which the application relates.
- The applicant should satisfy the officer conducting the test regarding his capability to drive the vehicle and his ability to perform the tasks.
- The candidate who passes the test of competence successfully will be issued with a driving licence and sent through speed post to the address furnished.
Apply In-Person
- Please locate your nearest RTO office from the Office Locations and Contacts section of this page.
- Download Application Form 4 or it can be obtained from the RTO office.
- Make sure you have all the required documents that are listed under the "Required Doucments" section.
- Submit all the completed application forms with the required documents along with the appropriate fees in the RTO office.
- Once the document verification is done successfully, applicant should take a biometric test. Throughout the procedure, the applicant will be given 150 questions for training. In order to take this test, he or she should answer at least twelve questions correctly out of the total 20 questions.
- You would have to bring your own vehicle where you have to drive infront of an examiner to make sure your driving skills and your knowledge about the vehicle is good. If they are satisfied with your knowledge about the vehicle and your driving skills a driver license will be provided.

- To apply for permanent driver license (Car, Bike, Motorcycle), the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
- In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
- The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
- Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
- The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
- Please follow the steps to complete the application.

- Three copies of the applicants recent passport sized photograph.
- Medical certificate in Form 1A, wherever required
- Proof of Age
- Proof of Address
- A driving certificate in Form 5 issued by the school or establishment from where the applicant received instruction, if any.

EligibilityEdit
- The minimum age to apply for a permanent licence to drive a private motor vehicle is 18 years.
- You should have a valid learners licence.
- You should apply after 30 days and within 180 days from the date of issuance of learners licence.
- A person who is at least 20 years old and possesses a Learners License can obtain a Licence for driving a commercial vehicle. Also, one has to be conversant with the traffic rules and regulations in all the cases.

ValidityEdit
The licence to drive a transport vehicle is effective for a period of three years from the date of its issue. An authorisation of license to drive a transport vehicle carrying goods of dangerous or hazardous nature is effective for one year, and is renewable thereafter, subject to the condition that the driver undergoes a one-day refresher course of the prescribed syllabus.
A licence to drive a non-transport vehicle shall be effective for a period of 20 years from the date of issue or renewal, or till the holder attains the age of 50 years, whichever is earlier. The licence is renewable for 5 years after that.

- Medical Certificate
An applicant for the grant of a non-transport vehicle driving licence under the age of 50 years does not require a medical certificate. However, those applicants who are over 50 years of age must produce a medical certificate in Form No.1A. All applicants for the grant of driving licence to drive a transport vehicle are required to produce a medical certificate.
