This procedure explains various ways to Apply for SSS Retirement Benefit in Quezon City.

Apply OnlineEdit

  1. To apply for SSS retirement benefit online visit the SSS website.
  2. Log in to your My.SSS account by clicking the "MEMBER" button (on the right side of the page under "PORTAL").
  3. Look for the "E-services" tab on the menu then click "Submit Retirement Application".
  4. You will be required to enter your separation date on the space provided. Once you are done click the "PROCEED" button.
  5. On the next page, please review the address, contact details, and employment history. If correct, proceed to check your eligibility to receive retirement benefit.
  6. Answer some questions regarding employment as mineworker and racehorse jockey (if applicable) as well as having dependent child/ren.
  7. Indicate on your application your wish to avail of the advance 18 months retirement pension, by either clicking "YES" or "NO". Note: This option is not available for retirees with at least 15 months accrued pension benefits.
  8. Read the Certification carefully before you click the "Certify and Proceed" box, to agree and proceed with your application. Note: Employers must certify the Retirement Claim Application (RCA) filed by their employees (to check if you are required to do this step see "Guidelines for Online Certification" under "Eligibility" section). The RCA will not be processed if it is not certified by the employer.
    1. How to certify a RCA (this step is done by the last registered employer of the separated employee): First log-in to the employer's My.SSS account via the SSS website.
    2. Click "Certification" under the "E-Services" tab.
    3. Review all details of the separated employee and if correct click the "Yes" button.
    4. Click "Proceed" to certify and confirm the separation from employment of the concerned employee.
    5. The certifying employer will receive an email notification for the successful certification of employee's separation from employment.
  9. Take note of your transaction number then open your email and see if you have received the Retirement Benefit Claim Application Notice sent by SSS.
  10. If you are qualified for the benefit and your application is approved by SSS, the proceeds of your benefit will be deposited by default to your UMID-ATM or if you do not have one, to your preferred bank account enrolled in the Bank Enrollment Module.


Apply in PersonEdit

  1. Here's how you can apply for the SSS Retirement Benefit in person, first you need to complete a Retirement Claim Application. A link to download the form is provided under "Documents to Use" section. If you don't have a printer it's okay because the form is also available at SSS branches. Please take note of the Certification part of the form, do not affix your fingerprints yet, you will need to do this in the presence of an SSS official. Also check if you need your application certified by your last employer.
  2. Once you have completed the form go to a SSS branch.
  3. Submit the completed form and present original and submit photocopy of single savings account passbook/ATM card with name or copy of bank validated deposit slip or Cash Card Enrollment Form. Your retirement benefit will be deposited to the account you submitted.
  4. Affix your fingerprints (right thumb and right index) on the portions provided in the application form in the presence of an SSS employee. In cases where the claimant could not sign, fingerprints should be witnessed by two (2) persons, at least one (1) of whom is an SSS employee.
  5. Present your Social Security Card or SS Form E-6 Acknowledgment Stub with 2 valid IDs.
  6. Your application will be reviewed and you will be notified by SSS if your application is approved and when can you expect to receive your pension.

For applications submitted in person:

  • Completed Retirement Claim Application
  • Original and photocopy of single savings account passbook/ATM card with name or copy of bank validated deposit slip or Cash Card Enrollment Form.
  • Recent 1 x 1 photo.
  • Social Security Card or SS Form E-6 Acknowledgment Stub
  • Two valid IDs, at least one (1) with photo. You will be asked to present the original copy of your IDs and submit a photocopy.

EligibilityEdit

You are eligible to apply for a retirement benefit if you have paid at least 120 monthly contributions prior to the semester of your retirement and is any of the following, whichever is applicable:

  • At least 60 years old and separated from employment or has ceased to be an Self Employed (SE)/OFW/Household Helper (optional retirement);
  • At least 65 years old whether still employed/SE, working as OFW/Household Helper or not (technical retirement);
  • At least 55 years old and separated from employment or has ceased to be an SE, if an “underground mineworker” (optional retirement);
    • Retirement eligibility applies to any person employed to extract mineral deposits underground or whose workplace is beneath the ground performing and coordinating activities for the purpose of searching for and extracting mineral deposits, which includes the muckers, miners, bull-gang workers, etc. and any other person working underground regardless of positions such as geologist, security guards, mechanics or sampler.
  • At least 60 years old whether still employed/SE or not, if an “underground mineworker” (technical retirement); or
  • A total disability pensioner who has recovered from disability and is at least 60 years old (or at least 55 years old, if an underground mineworker).


What if you do not meet the required 120 monthly contributions?

  • A SSS member who is at least 60 years old (or 55 years old, if an underground mineworker) applying for optional retirement, or 65 years old (or 60 years old, if an underground mineworker) for technical retirement, and has paid less than 120 monthly contributions are given an option to continue paying the contributions as a voluntary member to complete the 120 months to avail the full benefits thru monthly pension. This means higher payout upon approval of the retirement benefit.


You can file your retirement in person or online. But there is an eligibility criteria for members applying online. Note: The eligibility conditions mentioned below applies to those who are applying online only. That means you can still file yours in person if that's what you prefer as long as you are eligible for the retirement benefit.

Who can apply for the retirement benefit online thru My.SSS?'

  • All overseas Filipino workers and voluntary members who are at least 60 years old upon the date of submission of retirement claim application.
  • All employee-members who are at least 60 to 64 years old and separated from employment. Excluded are underground or surface mineworkers and racehorse jockeys.
  • All members who are at least 65 years old upon the date of online filing of claim.
  • You must have a My.SSS account
  • Must have disbursement account enrolled in the Bank Enrollment Module of My.SSS such as:
    • UMID-ATM
    • UBP Quick Card
    • Any PESONet-accredited bank
  • If filing for monthly pension:
    • Must have at least 120 posted monthly contributions prior to the semester of the month of submission of online retirement application
  • If filing for lump sum benefit:
    • Have at least 1 posted monthly contribution
    • Have no cancelled or multiple SS number/s
    • Have no outstanding loan balance under the: Stock Investment Loan Program, Privatization Fund Loan Program, Educational Loan Program, or Vocational Technology Loan Program
    • Note: Only unpaid SSS salary or calamity loan, including those borrowed under the Salary Loan Early Renewal Program are allowed
  • Have no dependent child/ren

  • You can file your SSS retirement benefit in person or online through My.SSS. It might be better to file your application online, it is easy and hassle free specially nowadays that SSS branches controls the number of applicants they can service for the day. If you don't have a My.SSS account, it's fine because you can easily create one. Just go to SSS website and click the "Member" button to register.

A Retirement Benefit is a cash benefit disbursed to a SSS member who can no longer work due to old age. The benefit can be given on a monthly basis or lump sum.

  • Monthly pension – disbursed to a retiree on a regular basis for a lifetime (until the retiree's death).
  • Lump sum amount – one-time payment granted to a retiree. The amount is equal to the total contributions paid by the member and/or by his/her ERs, including interest earned.


If you are planning to retire and is a member of SSS, and you are 60 years old and above, but not yet 65, with 120 contributions or more, you may continue paying as VM up to 65 years old to avail of the higher amount of benefit upon your retirement.
