  1. To obtain a certified copy of a divorce certificate, you will need to contact the clerk’s office of the courthouse in the judicial district where your divorce was granted. Search for judicial districts
  2. Do not forget to bring a valid identification when you visit the clerk's office. The registry personnel may ask for your ID in order to confirm your identity and make sure that you have the right to obtain the certificate.
  3. When you submit your request make sure that you have provided these important details which will make searching for the record easier:
    1. the case number (available from the clerk’s office of the Superior Court)
    2. the name of both parties
    3. the year of the judgment
  4. The certified copy of a divorce certificate is generally issued in the 30 days following the date of the judgment.
