Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for Residential Building Contractor License in person, the applicant has to visit the office of Quebec Building Authority.
2. Address and contact details can be found in the following Contact link
3. Visit the office and obtain an application form for Residential Building Contractor License as applicable from the relevant department.
4. The application forms can also be found in the following Application forms
5. Make sure that all the documents in the “Required Documents” section of this page are available.
6. Complete the application as per convenience, attest it with signature and attach the required documents with the application form.
7. Then, submit the application package to the relevant authority at the office.
8. The applicant has to pay the required fees for the license through credit card, debit card, as cash, cheque or postal money order. Fees details can be found in the “Fees” section of this page.
9. Upon receipt of the application and all the required information, the Department will proceed to review and assess the submitted information.
10. On completion of the review, the office will inform the applicant through phone number or email to collect the License.

Apply through mail

1. To apply for Residential Building Contractor License through mail, the applicant should send a paper application to the Quebec Building Authority.
2. The mailing address is as follows: Régie du bâtiment du Québec, Rez-de-chaussée, local 040, 255, boulevard Crémazie Est, Montréal (Québec) H2M 1L5.
3. First, the applicant has to download the application form which can be found in the following Application forms
4. Make sure that all the documents in the “Required Documents” section of this page are available.

6. Then, send the application package to the above-mentioned mailing address.

1. To apply for Residential Building Contractor License online, the applicant has to visit the following Apply online
2. Visit the link and scroll down to the “How to register an enterprise” section to find the online registration links.
3. Select and click the applicable registration link to register the enterprise. Respective registration link will be opened in a separate window.
4. Follow the on screen instructions and complete the registration as required. After completing the registration, proceed to apply for the license.
5. The applicant has to follow the on screen instructions and complete the application form as required.
6. The online portal also enhances the applicant to pay the license fees that can be found in the “Fees” section of this page.
7. Follow the on screen instructions in the payment page and make the payment. Then, submit the application by clicking the applicable button.
8. Upon receipt of the application and all the required information, the Department will proceed to review and assess the submitted information.
9. On completion of the review, the office will inform the applicant through phone number or email to collect the License.
