Quebec - Apply for Motorcycle Driver License

- Register for a driving course. Make sure that the course you choose is approved by the AQTR.
- Get your learner's license. Once you have passed phase 1 at your driving school you can start working on your learners license. When you go into the SAAQ service center take along either your SAAQ ID or two pieces of verifying information like a birth certificate or a passport. You will also need to provide either your health insurance card or a license that authorizes you to operate a vehicle.
- Complete the application form, bring along the necessary documents and pay the fees.
- Take the knowledge test and road test.
- Get your provisional license. Once you pass the road test you can receive a provisional license. This provisional license is very similar to a restriction free license. You will have this provisional license for at least 24 months.
- Get your full motorcycle driver's license. Once the 24 months have passed you can receive a full license as long as you have met all the necessary conditions.

EligibilityEdit
- be at least 16 years old; have the written Consent of a Person Having Parental Authority if you are a minor (under age 18);
- must first pass a knowledge test in order to get a class 6R learner's license, which is valid only for the purposes of a driving course and for the SAAQ closed track road test;
- after holding a class 6R license for at least one month, learners must successfully complete a driving course on operating a motorcycle, which includes a theoretical and two practical components and pass the closed-track test. Only then are prospective motorcycle operators issued a class 6A learner's license, which must be held for at least eleven months, allowing them to practice with an accompanying rider on another motorcycle;
- the last step is a road test, which prospective operators must pass in order to obtain a probationary or regular license to operate a motorcycle. The probationary license is valid for 24 months and is intended for motorcycle operators who do not hold a passenger vehicle (class 5) driver's license.

Need for the DocumentEdit
Depending on the cylinder capacity of the motorcycle you want to ride, you must hold a driver's license with one of the following classes:
- class 6A: all motorcycles;
- class 6B: motorcycles with a cylinder capacity of 400 cc or less;
- class 6C: motorcycles with a cylinder capacity of 125 cc or less.
To get a class 6A, 6B or 6C license, you must go through a series of steps and meet the requirements set out for each class.
