Apply In-Person:

  1. To obtain a passenger vehicle driver's licence, the applicant has to complete the mandatory questionnaire.

  3. The applicant has to mandatorily register for a driving course at a school that is recognized by the Association québécoise des transports.
  4. The applicant has to be 16 years of age, but they can register for the written test before.
  5. The applicant has to go for a class 5 driving course mandatorily.
  6. Before getting a class 5 driving license, the applicant will have to pass the written test administered by the driving school.
  7. If the applicant is not a Canadian citizen, they must schedule an appointment by telephone before registering for a driving course.

  9. For the driver’s license, the applicant will need a consent form if they are under 18 years of age.
  10. Provide attestation from the applicants driving school confirming they have completed phase 1 of the driving course.
  11. The applicant will have to go through a vision test and sign the declaration form.
  12. Pay the fee of 72.58$.
  13. The written test costs 11.08$.

If you were born in Canada

  • At least one of the two documents must be:
  • The original copy of the birth certificate
  • A Canadian Citizenship Certificate with a photo
  • A Canadian passport
  • An official Canadian Armed Forces identity card
  • A Certificate of Indian Status


The other document may be:

  • A health insurance card
  • A driver’s licence issued by another jurisdiction
  • If you were not born in Canada


At least one of the two documents must be:

  • A Canadian Citizenship Certificate with a photo
  • A Canadian passport
  • An official Canadian Armed Forces identity card
  • A Confirmation of Permanent Residence document and a Permanent Resident Card
  • Other proof of known legal presence in Canada


The other document may be:

  • A health insurance card
  • A foreign driver’s licence
