Procedure

You can submit an application to modify resident’s details to General Directorate for Border Passports and Expatriate.
Apply In-Person

1. To make an application for Changing / Updating or Modifying a resident’s details in Qatar, the applicant needs to make an application to the Expatriates Affairs Department of the Ministry of Interior. The contact information of the Ministry of Interior can be found through the following link
2. You can do this by visiting the Expatriates Affairs Department offices in person. Here you will be issued with a “Resident Data Modification Form” form to fill and submit. This form can also be downloaded from the Ministry of Interior MOI Website or it can be downloaded from the following link : Resident Data Modification form

   • Tick against the on the type of change you want to make option on the top right-hand side and left-hand side of the application form, before filling in the application form.
   • This can either be:

   (i) Change of Nationality

   (i) Change of occupation,

   (i) Change of employee’s name,

   (i) Change of date of birth,

   (i) Change of passport details,

   (i) Change of name,

3. Fill in the form correctly and mention new and past information clearly (depending on the nature of the modification)
4. Make the required payments for the renewal of the residence card.
5. Attach the acknowledgement receipt and the required documents explained in the important notes section in the form according to each request and submit them to the Expatriates Affairs Department Offices of the Ministry of Interior. The required documents are also mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Department’s officials will go through your change / Update / Modification application and if everything is in order they will begin the modification process of the Resident details.
7. The application process takes a period of one day before the modified / Updated information is updated in the MOI system database.
8. Once ready the applicant will be notified to collect the new residence permit/card reflecting the new information.

Required Documents

You need to attach the different documents depending on the type of modification you want to make. The following are the documents needed for the different types of change:
Changing Name:

• Approval from changing names approval committee

Change of employees’ name

1. Copy of valid commercial registration
2. Copy of municipal license
3. Copy of the computer card ( smart card)
4. Original employers Residence ID

Change of nationality

1. Original new passport showing new nationality
2. Copy of old passport showing previous nationality.

Change of Occupation:

1. Approval from the labour department ( Companies, establishment & commercial shops)
2. Copy of passport
3. Copy of residence card
4. Approval from the committee for looking into incomers’ application

Change of date of birth

1. Copy of birth certificate attested b the ministry of foreign affairs of the state of Qatar
2. Request letter stating the reason of change
3. Copy of resident permit
4. Copy of passport
5. One photograph
6. Copy of the host’s ID or employers ID/RC

Eligibility

Fees

• A fee of QR200 applies to modify resident’s details.

Validity

• The modified information has forever validity unless changed again by the resident.
• The permit is valid for one year or three years depending on the application.

• This application allows an individual to modify their residency details.

Required Information

1. Type of change ( Nationality, occupation , employee’s name ‘ date of birth, passport details, name)
2. Applicants details (Application number , ID card number, Name , Passport number/place & date of issue/ date of expiry, nationality, house number/street/area number, telephone number, the expiry date of RP, reason for amendment .
3. Declaration

Need for the Document

• These details include addition for newborn, separation from passport, change nationality or occupation, modifying sponsor’s name, transfer of residency permit details and loss of passport or ID.
