- To make an application to Transfer of residence permit to a New Passport in Qatar, the applicant needs to make an application to the Expatriates Affairs Department of the Ministry of Interior.
- You can do this by visiting the Expatriates Affairs Department offices in person. Here you will be issued with a “Resident Data Modification Form” form to fill and submit. This form can also be downloaded from the Ministry of Interior MOI Website or it can be downloaded from the following link : Resident Data Modification form
- Tick against the “Change of Passport Details” box option on the top right-hand side of the application form, before filling in the application form.
- Fill in the form correctly and mention new passport information clearly (depending on the nature of the modification)
- Make the required payments for the transfer of a resident permit to a new passport.
- Attach the acknowledgement receipt and the required documents explained in the important notes section in the form and submit them to the Expatriates Affairs Department Offices of the Ministry of Interior. The required documents are also mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Department’s officials will go through your transfer application and if everything is in order they will begin the transfer process of the Passport details.
- The application process takes a period of one day before the transfer information is updated in the MOI system database.
- Once ready the applicant will be notified to collect the new residence permit/card reflecting the new information.
Apply Online
- This service allows individuals to replace the data in their Residence Permit/Card of the current passport with that of a new passport.
- It is available for Qataris, residents, companies and organizations holding Qatari Smart ID Cards.
- The first step is to log in with your smartcard to the e-services portal of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) by clicking on the MOI Services tab and selection the E-services option.
- If you do not have an account with the MOI e-portal, you have to register for the services using your smart card.
- Once logged in, click on "Residency Services” option on the dashboard then click on the “Transfer Residence Permit to New Passport” link.
- On the next page enter the QID number of the resident whose residence data are to be transferred, then click on "Next" button.
- Enter the data of the resident and new passport.
- Select the reasons for transferring the residence, then click on "Next" button.
- Select the delivery method for the new residence permit.
- Attach a clear copy of the New Passport (maximum 2 copies), then click “Next” button.
- Click on "Pay Fees", and pay the applicable fees using a debit or credit card.
- After successful payment, a receipt will be shown to the applicant. Print the acknowledgement receipt for reference.
- Your new Residence card reflecting the new information will be delivered to your preferred location through the postal service or you can pick it up from the Expatriates Affairs Department offices on the same day.
Note:
- In the case of personal transactions, the user will determine the method of receiving the new residence permit (either by personally going to the Expatriates Affairs Department or via Qatar Post). In the case of enterprise transactions, the new residence permit will be delivered by Qatar Post.

- Qatari residents who have acquired a new passport to replace their old passport are eligible to make the application.
- Qatari employers (company or individual) are eligible to make this application for their employees.
FeesEdit
- A fee of QR100 is charged for the issuance of the new residency permit.
- An extra QR20 is charged in case of selecting Qatar Post for delivery.
ValidityEdit
- The new residency permit has the same validity as the old one. i.e. one year or three years

- A residence permit allows visitors from overseas to stay and work in Qatar over a longer period of time, providing them with access to a range of important services.
- With a Residence Permit, one can access many other services, apply for further permits and licenses, sign a rental accommodation agreement, apply for a loan, and the list goes on.
- Another key benefit of the Residence Permit is that it allows the holder to personally sponsor their immediate family members (spouse, sons, daughters) to join them and live in Qatar
Information which might helpEdit
- The transfer service is available for both individuals and establishments.
- The applicants have to log in with the smart card, and they must be registered with Metrash.
- The residence has to be valid, and the person still exists in the country.
- The size of the attached copy of the new passport must not exceed 200 KB.
- The user will pay using the credit card in the case of personal transactions. In the case of enterprise transactions, payment can be made either by credit card or bank transfer (from account to account). The delivery fees (if any) must be paid.
- After payment of the fees, the payment receipt will be shown as an evidence of completing the transaction successfully.
- You can also transfer residence permit to new passport through Metrash2.
