Qatar - Request Medical Examination for Residence Permit

ProcedureEdit

  • Expatriates who wish to work and live in Qatar, are required by law, to undergo a health screening on their arrival in Qatar, so as to be able to obtain a Residence Permit.
  • The purpose of which, is to protect the health of the population in general, and prevent the spread of infectious diseases, if any, from the newcomers.



Apply In-Person

  1. In Qatar, the Medical Commission is responsible for holding medical examinations with the aim of protecting the health of Qatar population and preventing spread of infectious diseases.
  2. Expats should first obtain a blood-type certificate that can be obtained from any clinic for a nominal fee, before taking up the Medical Commission examination.
  3. The medical examination is done by visiting the Medical Commission, located on Al Muntazah Street, off the E-Ring Road. The medical commission is the authority responsible for conducting the medical examination.
    • Registration and medical examination may be carried out in the accredited private hospitals Al-Ahli Hospital, Doha Clinic Hospital, Al-Emadi Hospital for VIP employees and families only in accordance with the applicable procedures of these hospitals.
  4. Once you visit the facility, present the required document as applicable to the commission’s officials. These documents include.
    • Original passport of the visitor
    • Clear copy of visit visa with cell phone number (in case you are seeking an extension of visa)
    • Debit/Credit card for payment of fees.
    • medical certificate issued by an accredited centre in the country of the foreign labourer. (if applicable)
  5. The commission’s office will go through your documents and you will be asked to make the payment for the medical test.
    • The fee for the medical test is QR100 per individual,
    • A Debit/Credit Card is used for payment. Cash payment is not allowed.
    • If you do not possess a debit/credit card, there is a bank counter near the women's entrance, which can issue you a temporary debit card for a small fee.
  6. After payment of the fees you will be summoned to take the medical examination.
    • The medical examination may include Blood Test, Chest X-Ray, Screening for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C.
  7. The result of the medical examination shall be sent electronically to the residency system of the Ministry of Interior.
  8. The results take a period of one to two weeks to come through. You can print the health certificate from the MOI residency system or collect it from the Medical Commission
    • The original registration receipt must be presented you want to collect the health certificate from the Medical Commission.


Note:

  • On passing the medical test, adults will have to register their fingerprints digitally with the Ministry of Interior.
  • Companies (Employers) must register their employees on Qatar e-Government Portal (Hukoomi) for them to be able to track and printing of the medical certificate of their employees.

EligibilityEdit

  • Individuals (visitors) who want to gain Qatari residence are eligible to make the application.
  • Qatari employers (company or individual) are eligible to make the application for their employees (expatriates) who don’t have Qatari residence to get a medical examination to receive residency.
