Qatar - Replace Lost or Damaged Residence Permit

- Applicants must be inside the country to make the application.
- The first step in the application process is to visit a police station to report the loss or damage of the residence permit. You are to acquire a police report from the police authorities which is a prerequisite to making the application.
- Attach this police report with your application for replacement of the lost damaged Residence Permit.
Apply In-Person
- After obtaining a Police report on the loss or damage, the next step of the application process can be handled by either the expatriate resident or employer, who is offering sponsorship. This is done by making an application to the Expatriates Affairs Department of the Ministry of Interior.
- You can do this by visiting the immigration Service Center in Gharrafa (Entrance 2 - Residence section) in-person to make the application.
- You should visit during morning hours, between 7 am and ideally before noon
- Take a token for the lost permit category from the issuing counter at the reception. In a while, you will be summoned to the "Lost Permit" counter.
- Go to the counter and present the documents asked for. The required documents are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Here you will be issued with an Application form for replacement of the Resident Permit to fill and submit.
- Make the required payments for the renewal of the residence card. You will be charged QAR200 for replacing a Residence Permit. They don't accept cash so you will need a debit/credit card.
- Attach the acknowledgement receipt and required documents to the application form and submit them officially at the counter.
- Department’s officials will go through your replacement application and if everything is in order they will begin the replacement process of the Residence Permit
- The application process takes a period of one day before the replaced residence permit is issued.
- Once ready the applicant will be notified and issued with the replaced residency permit.
Apply Online
- Residents can apply online to replace their lost or damaged residence permit through the online portal of the Ministry of Interior (MOI).
- The first step is to log in with your smartcard to the e-services portal of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) by clicking on the MOI Services tab and selection the E-services option.
- If you do not have an account with the MOI e-portal, you have to register for the services using your smart card.
- Once logged in, click on “ Residency Services ” Tab on the dashboard then choose the service type “ Replace Lost or Replace Damaged ” link.
- Enter the information of the expatriate who wants to issue Residence Permit (Either for him/ herself or for one of the family members), in addition to the mobile number then click “Next” button.
- On the next page choose the delivery option:
- Personally from Expatriates Affairs Department,
- OR
- Choose by mail courier via Qatar Postal Services Company, and click “Next” button.
- In case of selecting the mail courier delivery option, the address should be entered, and its information validity checkbox should be ticked.
- Review the replacement residence permit information to ensure that everything is okay.
- After this, pay the required due fees using a debit or credit card.
- After successful payment, a receipt will be shown to the applicant. Print the acknowledgement receipt for reference.
- Your Replaced Residence Permit will be delivered to your preferred location through the postal service or you can pick it up from the Expatriates Affairs Department offices on the same day.

- Qatari residents who have lost their resident permits are eligible to make the application.
- Qatari employers (company or individual) are eligible to make the application for their employees who have lost their residency permit. .
- You cannot apply for a residence permit replacement outside of Qatar

- A residence permit allows visitors from overseas to stay and work in Qatar over a longer period of time, providing them with access to a range of important services.
- With a Residence Permit, one can access many other services, apply for further permits and licenses, sign a rental accommodation agreement, apply for a loan, and the list goes on.
- Another key benefit of the Residence Permit is that it allows the holder to personally sponsor their immediate family members (spouse, sons, and daughters) to join them and live in Qatar.
- One needs to hold a valid residence permit at all times.
