Apply In-Person

  1. To make an application to obtain a birth certificate in Qatar, one has to make an application to the Ministry of Public Health. The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) issues birth certificates for children born in Qatar.
  2. The first step is to book an appointment to make an application in advance. You can obtain advance appointments by contacting registered birth registration offices in government and private hospitals from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm by contacting the following offices:
    • Birth registration office — Women’s Weliness and Research Center(44092144—44092145)
    • Birth registration office —Al Ahli Hospital (44898195 —44898194)
    • Birth registration office — Sidra Medicine (40031424 — 40031404)
    • Birth registration office — Wakra Hospital (4115288)
    • .Birth registration office — A Khor Hospital (44745274 — 44745276)
  3. After contacting the birth and registration offices and securing the appointment date and time proceed to download the application form designated for notifications and registration of newborns from the MOPH website or through the following link: Birth Certificate Registration and Notification Form
  4. You should note that you should fill out the application form prior to your scheduled appointment.
  5. Attach all the required documents to the application form and make the submission
  6. Pay the required fee for issuing of the birth certificate and submit the payment receipt.
  7. The birth certificate takes one day to processes and it will be issued to you on the same day.


Note:

  • Adhere to the specific time for each appointment, and in the case of non-compliance with the time, the date set for the appointment will be canceled, and in this case, they must obtain a new appointment.
  • Refrain from photocopying any documents inside birth registration offices. This should be done prior to visiting the registration office.

  1. Original ID of husband and wife + copy of each
  2. Copy of Marriage Certificate
  3. Original Vaccination Card + Copy and Notification of Live Birth


B. Qatari Father + Non-Qatari Mother

  1. Original ID of husband and wife + copy of each
  2. Original + copy of Wife’s passport (Residence Permit or Entry Visa for non-GCC citizens should be attached).
  3. Copy of Marriage Certificate
  4. Marriage Approval by MOI- Ministry of Interior for Non GCC Citizens
  5. Original Vaccination Card + Copy + Notification of Live Birth


Second: New Qatari Births - Born Abroad

  1. Original ID of husband and wife + copy of each
  2. Original + Copy of wife’s passport (Residence Permit or Entry Visa for non-GCC citizens should be attached)
  3. Copy of Marriage Certificate
  4. Marriage Approval by MOI- Ministry of Interior for Non-GCC Citizens.
  5. Original Child Birth Certificate (authenticated from country of birth)
  6. Exit - Entry Permit
  7. Blood group


Third: New Non-Qatari Births - Born in Qatar

  1. Original valid passport of husband and wife + copy of each
  2. Valid residence permit (or Entry Visa for non-residents)
  3. Original Vaccination Card + Copy + Notification of Live Birth
  4. Copy of Marriage Certificate

  • Children born in Qatar and of Qatari Parents (either on or both)
  • Children born in Qatar to non-Qatari parents are eligible to get a birth certificate but are not eligible to get citizenship.
  • Children born to Qatari parents abroad are also eligible for this application.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • The birth certificate is the first step towards the full exercise of citizenship. It is a proof of citizenship in Qatar and enables the holder to access the rights of a citizen of Qatar.
  • It proves your existence, your place and the date of birth, it is a legal document that proves and provides the names of your parents. i.e. it shows one’s kinship.
