ProcedureEdit

  • Smart cards can be obtained by submitting a request to obtain Smart ID for Qataris/Residents and select the required services and their duration through this service provided by the Ministry of Interior (MOI).

Apply In-Person

  1. To make an application for issuance of a Smart card, one has to make an application to the Ministry of Interior (MOI). This can be done in person.
  2. You can visit the anyone of the government service centres affiliated to the General Directorate of border passports and Expatriates affairs to make this application.
  3. Here you will be provided with an application form for issuance of a Smart card to fill and submit. The application form can also be obtained from the MOI Website or from the following link: Request for obtaining a smart card for residents (electronic services)
  4. Fill in the application form. Here you should select the required services and the validity period of the e-Card by ticking the appropriate box
  5. Attach the required documents to the application form and submit it to the government officials. These documents include the following:
    • Copy of your Qatari ID card
    • GCC passport
  6. This will be followed by taking of your photograph and fingerprints by the immigration officer.
  7. The government officer will then validate your residency ID and passport. At this point, the government officials will confirm with you on the validity period of the smart card you require.
  8. Proceed to pay the required fees depending on the type of card you require. Details of fees to be paid are detailed in the “Fees” section of this page.
  9. Once you make your payment, the government officer will swap your residency ID for a chipped e-Card and will activate the Smart Card.
  10. The card will be issued immediately once this is completed.

Note:

  • In case of a first-time request, the applicant should sign the organizing agreement for e-Government services request.

FeesEdit

Applicable fees are as follows:

  • QR100 for the ID card issuance.
  • QR100 for one year.
  • QR150 for two years.
  • QR200 for three years.
  • QR250 for e-Government services for three years.

  • There Smart cards are valid for a period one, two, and three years depending on the application.

InstructionsEdit

  • Qatari citizens and residents, as well as GCC nationals who are interested in obtaining an E-Gate card, should visit the immigration department in Madinat Khalifa.
  • Procedure sequence:
  1. Picture taking and fingerprint registration
  2. Validation of your residency ID and passport
  3. Payment (1. 2 or 3 years of E-gate services)
  4. Standby while they make your new smart ID card
  5. Activation of your smart ID card
  • Once your new smart ID is activated, you can skip the immigration process at the Hamad International Airport and no longer wait in line to get your docs verified by an official.

  • The Smart Card makes easy the process of going in and out of the country for air passengers and officials.
  • This Smart card allows air passengers and officials to enter and exit the country easily.
  • Holders of this card may bypass the immigration formalities at the Airport by punching their cards at the gate and pressing their index fingers on an electronic scanner.
