Punjab - How to Obtain a Duplicate Driving Licence

- If your driver license is valid and it’s stolen or lost, then you would have to file a FIR with the local police station and the report is the vital document to apply for the duplicate driving license
- If it is torn / stolen / mutilated then then remains can be attached for applying
Apply in Person
- To apply for a Duplicate Driver License in Punjab the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

- Application and Intimation of loss or destruction of driving license in Form LLD : (can be obtained from RTO)
- Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
- The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying duplicate driver license
- Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application and issue the duplicate driver license and the satisfactory result of verifications

- To Obtain a Duplicate Driving Licence, the applicant can make the application online via the following link link
- The applicant has to click “Drivers/ Learners License” and select the respective state from the drop-down menu.
- On the next tab, the applicant has to click “Duplicate Licence” and read the instructions and click “Continue”
- Next the applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has to upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Review the application and click “Submit”
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be displayed. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
- Next the applicant should book the slot and visit the office on the respective date.
- All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.

- Passport size photos-2 copies
- The original license is to be surrendered in case of driving license mutilated, torn or damaged.
- An ID Proof with your photo and a residential proof is required. (Voter's card, Aadhaar Card, passport etc. can be used for this purpose.)

- Driving licence is issued for 20 years or 50 years of age whichever is earlier.
- Driving licence issued for transport vehicle will be valid for three years.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- A driving license is an official document that states that a person may operate one or more types of motorized vehicles, such as a motorcycle, car, truck, or a bus, on a public roadway.
- Under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act,1988 in India, no person can drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he holds a valid Driving License issued to him, authorizing him to drive a vehicle of that particular category.
- Driving without Driving license is an offense. Incumbent has to pay penalty
- In order to avoid unnecessary penalty and enquiry one has to get the duplicate driving license for the one they lost or damaged.
