Punjab - Apply for Unemployment Allowance

The unemployed eligible candidates registered with employment offices are eligible to apply for this allowance.
Apply In-Person:
- The applicant may contact the concerned employment office to apply.

- Obtain the application form from the respective counter OR write on a plain paper OR download online. Link : form
- A duly completed application form or written application along with required documents may be sent by post or delivered personally to the officer in charge of concerned employment office.
- The submitted application form and documents will be verified. If all are OK, authority will process the application and provide you with the receipt. Please keep it safe for future requirement.
- The claim of Unemployment Allowance of the candidate will be forwarded to the concerned Treasury / applicable department office to process further.
- Once approved, the amount gets credited in the bank account of the candidate.
- Note:
- Every claimant to the unemployment allowance shall be required to give an undertaking in the form of an affidavit duly attested, in every subsequent quarter to the effect that no change has occurred in the facts relating to self, his/her family’s income and unemployment status. Such undertaking shall be filed by the Claimant in the employment exchange of his registration.

- Three specimen signatures, duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.
- Domicile certificate issued by a competent authority (As applicable)
- An affidavit duly attested by a Magistrate/ Oath Commissioner in support of his/her claim for unemployment allowance.
- A medical certificate from Medical Officer of Government hospital/ dispensary (to be furnished duly by blind, deaf and dumb & ortho applicants registered with the special Employment Exchange for Physically Handicapped persons, as applicable)
- Aadhaar card.
- Bank account details.
- Mobile number.
- Passport size photograph of applicant (please take 5 copies).
- Certificate to prove the place of residence.
- Certificate to prove age.
- Certificate to prove caste, if they belong to reservation communities.
- In case of disabled persons, Medical Certificates to prove Disability.
- Any other document to claim benefits offered by respective state government as advised by authorities.
- Note : Please show above mentioned documents in originaland attested copies thereof (to be submitted) at the time of applying.

EligibilityEdit
- A candidate must pass 10th and must be between the age of 17 to 40 years.
- The annual family income of candidates must be less than Rs.12000/-
- Candidate should not be a regular student and he must be unemployed.
- Candidates avail unemployment allowance according to as follow:
- For Blind, Deaf & Dumb impaired candidates:
- After first quarter from the date of registration.
- For Orthopedically Handicapped candidates:
- After one year from the date of registration.
- For Other category candidate:
- After 3 years from the date of registration.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- The Departments of Employment in various States of India allow unemployed educated youth residing in the respective States to pre-register for impending job vacancies occurring in different sectors of that State.
- Those who are registered with employment exchange and not provided employment are provided with allowance.
- Candidates who possess educational qualifications other than those of professional and executive standards can register their educational qualifications with the respective Employment Exchanges in their districts

- Whenever government vacancies are announced, list of registered members with suitable educational profiles are forwarded to respective employers for consideration.
