Procedure

To Apply for Jewellery Store License, the applicant needs to obtain Jeweller Registration certificate from Bureau of Indian Standards

Step 1: Apply Online for Certification:

1. To obtain certification, the applicant must make the application online using the following link and click on the “Hallmarking” tab.
2. Then click on link at the Manak Portal under “Notification” section or click on the “For jeweller registration” tab
3. Then user will be redirected to the NSWS page where user will click on “Central Approvals”
4. then on “All Approvals” in the dropdown.
5. On the “Approval and Registrations” page user can search for the keyword “Hallmark” in the search field provided at the top right-hand corner.
6. Then go to “Registration of jewellers for selling Hallmarked jeweller/artefacts” box and click on “Add To My Approvals”
7. Then a Login page will appear where you can login using your credentials if you have already registered yourself on the portal otherwise register yourself by clicking on the “Register”
8. Then fill the Registration form. An OTP will be sent to user’s mobile no.
9. Then a verification link will be sent to user’s registered email id
10. After user’s account has been verified kindly login with the credentials. Then click on My Dashboard link at the top right corner.
11. Then click on “Apply Now” link and enter CIN/LLPIN based on your selection if your business entity is already incorporated. If user is a “Sole Proprietorship” then click on validate button and proceed.
12. Complete Company Registration Details section by clicking on the “+” sign and fill the required details.
13. Then Enter Postal Address Details and Factory/Site Location and fill it
14. Similarly fill all the other sections and save the application as draft by clicking on ‘Save as Draft’ or submit the application by clicking on ‘Review & Submit’.
15. Then user can submit the application after previewing it
16. After successful submission, a message of submitted successfully will be displayed. Click on the “OK” button to close that Pop-up
17. Then go to “Registration of jewellers for selling Hallmarked jewellery/artefacts” section in the left menu and fill the “User Details”.
18. Similarly fill all the other sections and save the application as draft by clicking on ‘Save as Draft’ or submit the application by clicking on ‘Review & Submit’
19. After successful submission the application status will reflect as “Approved” in the “My Dashboard”.

Note: The certificate of registration is granted instantly without the need to upload any document or pay any fees. The certificate of registration stands valid for lifetime.

Step 2 - Get a Trade license:

1. The applicant will need to obtain a business or trade license from the local government in the area where you will be operating their bookstore. The requirements for obtaining a business license vary from state to state, so you will need to check with your local government for specific instructions.

Step 3 - Register for GST (If Necessary):

1. If the Jewellery store's annual turnover exceeds ₹20 lakhs, you will need to register for Goods and Services Tax (GST).
2. GST is a tax levied on the sale of goods and services in India.

Step 4 - Obtain a Shop and Establishment Act registration:

1. The Shop and Establishment Act is a state law that governs the working conditions of employees in shops and establishments.
2. The applicant will need to obtain a registration under this Act if you will be employing staff in your store.
3. If you intend to register, approach the state labour department for this process.
4. Complete the application and pay the prescribed fee as obtain registration certificate.

Step 5 - Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) (If applicable):

1. If you plan to import or export Jewellery, you may need to obtain an IEC from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
