Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To apply for contract carriage Auto permit in Punjab the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

4. Make sure you have completed application form for contract carriage Auto permit. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees
   
5. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
   
6. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
   
7. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Meter for fare, seating arrangements etc., will be carried by authorities.

Apply Online

1. To Apply Contract Carriage Auto Rickshaw Permit, the applicant can make the application online via the following link link
2. The applicant has to click “Online Services” and select the “vehicle related services” from the drop-down menu.
3. Next the applicant has to select the respective state from the drop -down menu and select “RTO” and click “Proceed”.
4. On the next tab, the applicant has to click “other services” and select apply for permit and read the instructions and click “Continue”
5. Next the applicant has to enter “vehicle number” and last five digits of “chassis number” and click verify details.
6. OTP will be received in applicant’s mobile. The applicant has to enter the OTP.
7. Next Click on “Contract Carriage Auto Rickshaw Permit” icon and Click on “Fill Permit Details” tab
8. Select Date for Valid from and Select Period Mode (Days/Weekly) and Enter Period (Maximum 120 Days).
9. Click On Next Button and enter Permit Details and click on Submit Details.
10. Application Number will be generated and Click on “Verify Now” and make Permit Fee online and download Payment Receipt
11. The permit copy will be auto approved. A link is given to print the Temporary Permit (Click here to print Permit).

1. Application for a Permit in Respect of contract carriage auto ( you can get it from respective RTO)
   
2. No objection certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
   
3. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
   
4. Fitness Certificate of the vehicle.
   
5. Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
   
6. Insurance Certificate.
   
7. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
   
8. Affidavit Sworn by the applicant before an Executive (or) a First Class Judicial Magistrate (or) Notary Public
   
9. Passport size photo-2
   
10. Pollution under control certificate
    
11. PROOF OF ADDRESS (any one of the following to be produced)

• Contract carriage means any motor vehicle contracted or adapted for use solely for the carriage of Passengers.
  
• Contract Carriage Permit is the most common type of permit granted for transport vehicle for the purpose applied for (Public transport / transport under contract)
  
• Permit for Auto Rickshaw is to grant the holder to operate the vehicle for a specific period on area designated.
  
• The permit also grants the holder to pick passengers in his Auto Rickshaw under the designated area with fares fixed by government on timely basis.

• It is advisable to go to the Regional Transport Officer / State Transport Authority between 9:00am to 5:00pm.
  
• FC (for clearance) is a process meant for reviewing the condition of the vehicle by the RTO authorities
