Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. The respective “Fair Price Shops-FPS” / ration shop will announce the issue of the application form for the new ration card. The respective civil supplies & consumer affairs office also conducts special camps for the issue of family card to the transgender. The applicant shall approach these offices and find out the option for getting a ration card for transgender. If the service is availed, then apply for the family card.
2. Contact link please use the contact details to get “FPS” contact information and respective district level office to apply.
3. Go to the respective office and obtain the application form to apply for a ration card. The applicants are advised to get the latest eligibility updates from the authorities.
4. Irrespective of the announcements for the new ration cards and special camps, the applicant shall also visit the respective public distribution office for their area on any working day to consult about how to apply for the new ration card.
5. Fill all the necessary mandatory information in the application as appropriate, please mention or select the transgender/others option for the gender/sex section as appropriate and sign at appropriate places.
6. Do not fill in any wrong information, otherwise the officer of the department will reject the application form.
7. Attach all the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and apply to the concerned authority. Please pay the fee/charges if any and don’t forget to take the receipt. Please refer to the “Fees” section of this page for more details.
8. On accepting the application, the authority or the clerk will check the application details and documents. If all are in place, the application will be accepted and an acknowledgement slip with a serial number will be issued. Please keep it safe for future reference.
9. Applicant will be informed of the probable date of getting approval for the issuance of the ration card.
10. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
11. The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority (supply officer) will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
12. Based on the outcome of the above-mentioned steps and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will make a decision on issuance of the family card.
13. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or through applicable norms.
14. If approved, the ration card will be hand-delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued as per the applicable norms within 60 days or as per the advised timeline.

2. In the given page, please click on the “Apply For New Ration Card” option on the left part of the screen to get a new screen.
3. Please go through the instructions and click the “Proceed” button to reach the “Register here - New Ration Card Service” screen.
4. Here, please select the district from the dropdown list against “District”, enter the mobile number as appropriate (an “OTP” will be sent), please click the checkbox for “I Agree to provide the above details to avail the Online Services.” Declaration and click the “Send OTP” button.
5. An “OTP” will be sent to your mobile number just provided. Please enter the received “OTP” at the prompted space against “Enter OTP” and click the “Submit” button to reach the “Apply For New Ration Card” page.
6. The applicant shall enter/select the prompted details for “Basic Details”, “Head fog Family (HoF) Dertails” section. While fillinh the “Head fog Family (HoF) Dertails” section page prompts, please select “Transgender” from the dropdown list under “Gender of HoF”.
7. Please click the checkbox for “I agree to …” declaration and continue filling the “Bank Account Details of HoF”, “Additional Details of HoF” and “General Details” section as appropriate.
8. Once all the mandatory details are filled, please click the “Save and Proceed to Add Member” button at the bottom to reach the successive section under “Step 4 of 5”.
9. Please follow the onscreen information and complete the page requirements to add members as appropriate.
10. The applicant shall process the page requirement to upload the documents required for this process using the applicable button to upload.
11. Once the applicant completes the filling of mandatory information till the “Step 5 of 5” section, they can use the applicable button to submit the application online.
12. Please save the system generated acknowledgement for future reference.
13. This application will be processed by the respective department.

To Apply Through CSC Centre

1. Applicant shall go to the respective “CSC” centre.
2. Following link can provide you information related to nearest CSC Centres link please fill the prompts using the dropdown list as appropriate for the respective contact details.
3. Please visit the centre and consult with the kiosk operator for your requirement.
4. If the operator issues an application form, then collect it and pay the requisite fee. Please complete the application form.
5. Now, submit the completed application along with the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
6. The operator will process the application online. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
7. Applicant has to make necessary payment as centre operator quotes and don’t forget to take the receipt.
8. This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.

• Surrender certificate of Ration Card / Family Identity holding or non-availability certificate from the FCS & CA authority where the applicant has previously resided (applying in the new place) as applicable

Eligibility

• Transgender is eligible to apply with a valid “Certificate of identity”.
• The applicant and his/her family must be Indian citizens and should be residents of the state.
• The applicant or his family members must not possess any family card in any other State in India (If they had one, it has to be withdrawn).
• The applicant and members of the family must be close relatives.
• If you are newly married and have your name in your family ration card, you and your spouse should get name deletion certificates (removing names from your respective family cards).

Fees

• Fee information and other charges can be obtained directly from the department office while applying.

Validity

• The ration cards are usually valid for a lifetime and will be renewed in 5 years or based on the announcement.

• Please mention the period of stay in the present address.
• Incomplete application will be rejected.
• Do not submit fake documents as proof to get the ration card.
• Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.

Need for the Document

• To protect the transgender rights and interests and to facilitate their access to different government schemes, the government initiated the issue of family cards under the “Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS)”.
• For implementation of the “Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS)”, ration Card is being issued to all the heads of families, with details about family members included in the card. Based on their economic condition, people can buy goods like food grains, sugar and kerosene with the help of their ration cards.
• Ration card is essential to apply for passport, PAN card or a domicile certificate or to even get the name registered for electoral rolls to get a Voter ID.
