Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Foreign Graduate Scholarships, the applicant has to approach the DOST Science & Technology Scholarship Division link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. Or the applicant has to download the application form from the following link
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
7. The fee for this procedure is free of cost.
8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
9. All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
10. The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
11. Once the application is accepted the authority will contact the applicant regarding the application.
12. The entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Required Documents

• Certified True Copy of the Official Transcript of Records
• Endorsement from two former professors in college (For MS applicant) or two from professors in the MS Program (For PhD applicant)

If employed:

• Recommendation from the Head of the Agency
• Permission to take a leave of absence (LOA) while on scholarship
• Medical Certificate as to health status and fitness to study from a licensed physician with his/her PRC license number indicated
• Valid NBI Clearance
• Letter of Admission to the foreign university
• Program of Study
• Budgetary Requirements (with supporting document for bases of rates used)
• Re-entry Plan, narrative

Eligibility

The scholarship is open to all Filipino citizens who are in the first five years of their research career and meet the eligibility requirements.

An applicant must

• Be a Filipino citizen;
• Not be more than 50 years old at the time of application
• Be in good health condition
• Pass the admission requirements for graduate studies in a foreign university with a good track record
• Pass the interview and other screening procedures and
• Align the research interest with the areas/programs identified under the DOST’s Harmonized National Research and Development Agenda (HNRDA) and
• Have a viable re-entry plan.

Fees

• The fee for this procedure is free of cost.
