Apply In-Person:
- To make an application for a copy or extract of the Marriage Certificate, the applicant has to approach the Civil Registry Offices to make the application.
- The contact information of the Civil Registry Office can be found in the “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page Or through the following link.
- At the Civil Registry Office, the applicant should approach the Customer Service Counter and enquire about the copy of the Marriage Certificate.
- The applicant will be required to submit all the documentary requirements to the officer. A list of the required documents can be found in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Upon submission the Civil Registry Officer will check the documents for completeness and authenticity. If everything is in order the applicant will be issued with a monitoring slip to fill and submit.
- The applicant will also be issued with a queue number to wait for their turn to make payments.
- Proceed to make payments to the cashier when your queue number is called and get your Official Receipt. The application fees to be paid are mentioned in the “Fees” section of this page.
- Upon making payments proceed to present the Official Receipt and monitoring slip to the Civil Registry Officer.
- The officer will issue the applicant a claim receipt to submit when collecting their Copy of Marriage Certificate. On the claim receipt, the date of collection of the copy of the Marriage Certificate will be indicated.
- On the date of collection, the applicant should present the claim receipt to the Civil Registry Collection officer to be issued with their copy of the Marriage Certificate.
- After collecting the Marriage Certificate Copy, the applicant will be asked to write their name and affix their signature to the Release Form.
- The whole process takes a period of two days.

- Parties should have legally registered their marriage in Papua New-Guinea and obtained a marriage certificate.

- A fee of 20 PNG Kina is charged to citizens and a fee of 30 PNG Kina is charged to internationals married in Papea New Guinea,

- A marriage certificate is valid until in the event of an absolute divorce.
