  • To get this certificate you have to first get the application form from the union council of your city which is nearby,
  • You then fill the application form with correct and official record
  • attach all the documents that are required, and then
  • submit your application to the union council for processing which will take 14 days

To be eligible the groom must be 18yrs and the bride to be 16yrs. The marriage certificate is offered in two cases the first is you are going to be married soon the second is you are already a married

Individuals may obtain a copy of the Nikah Nama at the Union Council by paying a prescribed fee



ValidityEdit

A marriage certificate is valid forever unless the couple divorces.

  • Nikah is an Islamic official wedding ceremony.
  • A marriage contract is signed by both the bride and the groom in presence of their parents and close relatives.
  • Wedding is illegal without a Nikah.
  • The Nikah is performed by a religious person who has the license issued by the government to perform this ritual.
  • It is performed by animamwho formally indicates signing of the marriage contract.
  • The bride and groom must both have two witnesses present to ensure that the marriage is consensual.

  • information on whether the bride and the groom have been married before and whether they have any children,

Marriage Certificate (Wedding Certificate) also known as Nikah Nama in Urdu is official record of marriage between two persons & it is essential to prove a change of name when married. Traditionally in Pakistan the official Marriage Certificate (Nikah Nama) is issued in Urdu.

Registration of marriage.Edit

(1) Every marriage solemnized under Muslim Law shall be registered in accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance.

(2) For the purpose of registration of marriage under this Ordinance, the Union Council shall grant licenses to one or more persons, to be called Nikah Registrars, but in no case shall more than on Nikah Registrar be licensed for any one Ward.

(3) Every marriage not solemnized by the Nikah Registrar shall, for the purpose of registration under this Ordinance be reported to him by the person who has solemnized such marriage.

(4). Whoever contravenes the provisions of such-section (3) shall be punishable with simple imprisonment for a term which may extent to three months, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.

(5). The form of Nikah nama, the registers to be maintained by Nikah Registrars, the records to be preserved by Union Councils, the manner in which marriage shall be registered and copies of Nikah nama shall be Supplied to parties, and the fees to be charged thereof, shall be such as may be prescribed.

(6) Any person may, on payment of the prescribed fee, if any, inspect at the office of the Union Council the record preserved under sub-section (5), or obtain a copy of any entry therein."
