Income certificate is issued to the citizen by the government, as an evidence confirming their annual income and testifying all sources of the income. Income certificate used as a legal proof for availing various subsidies and schemes.

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Regular Income certificate (RIC) can be purchased from any National Savings Centre (NSC), Pakistan Post Office (PPO) or authorized branch of a Scheduled Bank and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP)
  2. Request and pay for the form the SC- 1 (Application form) and read through the instruction carefully then fill it correctly.Application Form
  3. RIC can be purchased by depositing cash at the Issuing Office or by presenting a cheque/ draft/ pay-order. The Certificate shall be issued immediately against the cash payment. However, in case of deposit through cheque/ draft/ pay-order, the Certificate shall be issued with effect from the date of realization of the cheque/ draft/ pay-order after receiving the clearance advice.
  4. Applicant should note that there is an investment limit of Minimum: Rs. 50,000/-No maximum investment limits
  5. Submit to the attending officer, the filled application form and attach all the required document

NOTE

  • RIC can be enchased at any time and service charges   shall be deducted on the following rates: RIC can be enchased any time after issuance subject to the deduction of service charges If enchased before completion of 1, 2, 3 and 4 years from the date of issue: then 2 %, 1.50%, 1%, and 0.50% service charges of the face value shall be deducted. There will no service charges after the completion of 4 years.
  • The Certificates issued/ purchased/ reinvested on or after November 15, 2010 shall not be reinvested on maturity.

  • Filers: 10% of the yield/ profit
  • Non-Filers: 17.5% of the yield/ profit; however, the rate shall be 10% if the yield or profit paid is less than Rs. 500,000/-.

Any investment made in RIC shall be exempt from compulsory deduction of Zakat at source

EligibilityEdit

  • All Pakistani Nationals as well as Foreign Nationals can purchase RICs being a single adult, a minor or two adults jointly where the payments can be received either by the both jointly (Joint-A) or any one of the holders (Joint-B). An adult can also purchase RIC on behalf of a single minor, two minors jointly or as a joint with a minor. Institutions may also invest their Employees’ related funds such as pension, gratuity, superannuation, contributory provident fund and trusty fund.

FeesEdit

  • The minimum investment limit is Rs.50, 000/-, however, there is no maximum investment limit in this scheme.

  • These certificates can be purchased from any National Savings Centre (NSCs) or from Pakistan Post Office (PPO) by filling in a prescribed form called SC-1, which is available at all the above offices of issue free of cost.
  • A copy of the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) or in case of a foreign national, a copy of the Passport may be attached with the application form (SC-I).

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • One major purpose of obtaining an income certificate is to avail tax relaxations. Besides, income certificate is used for various educational purposes such as admission, scholarships, fee reimbursement etc. Income certificate should also be furnished to benefit from various welfare schemes implemented by State and Central government.

Information which might helpEdit

Income Certificate must be attested by the Nazim/Naib Nazim Union Council/ Chairman Zakat Usher Committee/ Tehsildar/Naib Tehsildar/ DSA/ Chairman of the Concerned Department.



Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit

Income certificate acts as a proof of eligibility to various schemes and benefits granted by the State Government in various fields. These fields include but are not limited to:

  • Educational institutions that usually have a quota reserved for people from economically poorer backgrounds. This certificate helps them secure admission either free of cost or at a concession.
  • Scholarships offered by some institutions/governments targeting the uplift of the poor.
  • Ailment of medical benefits like free or concessional treatment, subsidized medicines, financial assistance to mothers who give birth to girl child, etc.
  • Obtaining loans from the respective government employers at a concessional rate of interest.
  • Providing relief to victims of various natural calamities and disasters.
  • Widows who can claim government pension wherever applicable.
  • Claiming entitlement to hostels, flats or other such government accommodation.

At the prevailing rates monthly profit of Rs.990/- (excluding withholding tax) is paid on investment of each Rs.100,000/-.
This way the profit rate works to 11.88% p.a.
However, the facility of automatic reinvestment of profit to earn further profit is not available in this scheme.
The monthly profit, if not drawn on due date shall not earn further profit.
