HOW TO APPLY

  1. Visit the Traffic police office/ licensing centre near you licensing centre with all the required documents and the recommended fee
  2. Approach the counter and request for and application form for your petition
  3. Read through the instruction carefully and fill the form correctly, attach the required document and submit them to the attending officer, who will verify and process your document
  4. Pay the recommended fee
  5. You will be tested on your capability to ride the motor cycle through exams.  the initial theoretical test and the driving test
  6. If all the information is in order and you have passed the test our will be issued your licences immediately.

ONLINE APPLICATION

  1. Log in to the DLIMS Website: select downloads
  2. Download your required form by going to the downloads section.i.e Regular drivers licenses
  3. Read through the instruction carefully and fill the application form correctly
  4. To search for the closest Licensing Centre, click at the Licensing Centre tab.
  5. After 42 days of learning period, meet the licensing authority.
  6. Submit the required documents and pay the recommended fees
  7. You will be tested on your capability to ride the motor cycle through exams.  the initial theoretical test and the driving test
  8. If all the information are correct and you have passed the tests you will be issued with your licenses

PROVISIONAL LICENSE CONDITIONS / RESTRICTIONS (MOTORCYCLES)<br

  • At the age of 18, a learner may ride a motorcycle upto 80cc. At age 21 learners have direct access to any size bike over 80cc but must be accompanied by a fully qualified instructor.
  • If a rider does not have a full car or motorcycle / scooter license then a rider must apply for provisional motorcycle / scooter entitlement which is valid for two years. If the test is not passed during this period, the rider will lose his motorcycle / scooter entitlement for one year.
  • If a rider want to ride motorcycles again, he will have to apply for an exchange license. He can reapply for a provisional motorcycle license on a Form A'.
  • If the last provisional motorcycle license was held more than a year ago, the new provisional motorcycle license will be valid for a full two years. Otherwise the rider can reclaim the months left on his license when he gives it up (NOTE: a licensee cannot reclaim within 2 months of giving up his motorcycle license and there must be a whole month left to reclaim).
  • Provisional motorcycle entitlement issued with full licenses for motorcars, and scooters (category B,) is usually valid until the holder's 70 th birthday- but other leaner restrictions still apply.
