Procedure

• Download the medical and the learners licence form Download.
• You need 2 passport size photographs. One for your medical fitness certificate and the other for your applicaiton form
• Attach a copy of your national identity card.
• Arrive at the Driving Licence Branch of your area and go to the information desk to get your papers checked.
• Pay the Applicable fee at the nearest post office as instructed by the information desk.
• Study "The Highway and Motor Code".
• Appear before the medical officer for your medical fitness.
• Get your photograph taken by the office.
• Receive your learners licence.

Eligibility

• No person under the age of eighteen years shall drive a motor vehicle in any public place.
• No person under the age of 20 yrs. shall drive a transport vehicle in any public place.

Fees

• Motor Cycle - Rs.50
• Car - Rs.100
• Car / M. cycle - Rs.150
• L.T.V - Rs.100
• H.T.V - Rs.100
• M.C.R - Rs.100
• L.T.V / M. Cycle - Rs.150
• HT.V / M. Cycle - Rs.150
• Rs. 125 fee for computerized driving licence applicable to all applications.

Validity

Learners licence issued by licensing authority shall be valid for 6 months.

No person shall drive a motor vehicle or a transport vehicle in any public place unless he/she holds an affective learners licence issued to him by Licensing Authority.
Every applicant for a learners licence is required to present himself before the licensing authority for preliminary test.
