Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for Residential Building Contractor License in person, the applicant has to visit the office of Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA).
2. Address and contact details can be found at the bottom of the following Contact link
3. Visit the office and obtain an application form for Residential Building Contractor License from the relevant department.
4. Make sure that all the documents in the “Required Documents” section of this page are available.
5. Complete the application as per convenience, attest it with signature and attach the required documents with the application form.
6. Then, submit the application package to the relevant authority at the office.
7. The license fees range from $750 to $3000 and can be paid as cash or through any of the available payment modes.
8. Upon receipt of the application and all the required information, the Department will proceed to review and assess the submitted information.
9. On completion of the review, the office will inform the applicant through email to collect the License.

Apply online

1. To apply for Residential Building Contractor License online, the applicant has to visit the following Apply online
2. Visit the link and click “Sign Up/Sign In” button. In the next page, enter the email address and password in the respective fields.
3. Click “Sign in” button to sign in and proceed to apply. If the applicant is new to the portal, they should click “Sign up now” link and create a new account.
4. In the next page, enter the email address and click “Send Verification code”. An email will be sent to the provided email address with a code for verification.
5. Copy the verification code and paste it in the verification code field. Then, click “Verify code” button.
6. Create a new password for the account and click “Create” button. In the next page, read the terms and conditions and check the box, then click “Continue” button.
7. The user will be redirected to the portal and they can edit their profile initially by providing the required details about their business.
8. Once done, the applicant should click “Applications & Renewals” option from the left side menu and click “Submit New Application” button under “New Builder/Vendor Applications” title.
9. The application has 13 steps and the applicant has to complete each step with all the required details.
10. The online portal also enhances the applicant to pay the license fees that ranges from $750 to $3000. Follow the on-screen instructions in the payment page and make the payment.
11. Submit the application by clicking the applicable button. Upon receipt of the application and all the required information, the Department will proceed to review and assess the submitted information.
12. On completion of the review, the office will inform the applicant through email to collect the License.

Eligibility

• Any builder or vendor of new homes can apply.
• The applicant must have undergone criminal record and judicial matters checks.
• A builder or vendor applying for a licence as a first-time applicant must meet the competency requirements.

• Group of builders/ vendors sharing at least one common officer, director, principal, partner or franchise must pay 750 dollars for the license.
• Other applicants must pay 3000 dollars for the license.
