Apply In-Person:

  1. To register for an Automotive salesperson license, the applicant will need to complete and submit the application form to the Ontario Motor Vehicle Sales Regulator. Here is the contact Link
  2. Use the following link to download the application form Link
  3. Fill out the application form with all the relevant details.
  4. The applicant must submit all the required documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page. The applicant can find information on how to submit the documents in the application form.
  5. The applicant will also need to pay fees for registration, find fee-related information under the “Fees” section of this page.
  6. The applicant will need to submit a Criminal record check, this can be obtained by clicking on the following Link
  7. Submit the application form along with the documents in-person to the Ontario Vehicle Sales Regulator (OMVIC) office. Find the address under the “Office Locations and Contacts” section of this page.
  8. Once submitted and processed, the applicant will be informed if they need to complete the Automotive Certification course. Find course-related information under the “Information which might help” section of this page.
  9. Once the applicant completes the course, they will receive their license either by mail or must collect it in person as will be intimated by the authorities.
  10. The applicant shall be registered within 30 days from the completion of the course.

EligibilityEdit

  • The applicant must be 19 years of age or above.
  • The applicant may complete the salesperson registration course and pass before the conditional license expiration date.
  • The applicant must be employed by a licensed motor dealer, the application can be submitted before employment but will only be approved after the applicant gets a job.
  • The applicant must mandatorily go through a criminal record check.



FeesEdit

  • The applicant will need to pay a 250$ application fee.


ValidityEdit

  • The automotive salesperson's license needs to be renewed every year.
  • If the applicant does not renew the license for more than three years they will have to complete the salesperson course again.

  • The applicant has to mandatorily renew license every year, if they engage in business without renewing their license, they could face enforcement action.
