Oman - Obtain a Road Permit

ProcedureEdit

1.) Fill out the application forms.

2.) Submit two photographs sized (4X6) cm. along with all other required copies of documents and a letter from the sponsor requesting the road permit.

Required DocumentsEdit

1.) Road permit application form in addition to the original designated permit.

2.) Two photographs sized (4X6) cm.

3.) copy of the sponsor's identity card in case of personal sponsorship

4.) Copy of the foreigner's passport and a copy of his residence card in the Sultanate.

5.) Copy of the specimen signature of the authorised signatories issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

6.) Copy of valid certificate of membership of Oman's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, accompanied by a copy of the valid commercial registration.

7.) In case the application is presented by someone other than the sponsor, the representative must be Omani and holding a written authorisation issued from the sponsor and attested by the Directorate General of Passport & Residence.

8.) A letter from the sponsor requesting the permit.

EligibilityEdit

The Directorate General grants foreigners residing in the Sultanate and their visitors road permits to visit the Omani regions located beyond the land border points.

Resident foreigners in high professions are exempted from the road permits in coordination with the concerned authorities at the United Arab Emirates.

FeesEdit

Types of Road permits for private sector:

One trip / Fees (8) Omani Riyals.

Three months / Fees (15) Omani Riyals.

Six months / Fees (20) Omani Riyals.

One year / Fees (30) Omani Riyals.

Collective road permits granted to companies that are implementing contracts beyond the border points according to the defined permit validity.

All services relating to passports, identity cards, visas, residence permits, and road permits etc. are performed by the Directorate General of Passports and Residence. It provides its services at airports, sea ports and border posts as well as from its main office at the ROP Force Headquarters and the regional sections.
