- To apply for renewal of certificate of vehicle registration in Odisha, the applicant has to approach the RTO office of the area.
- Information related to the RTO offices and registering authority can be obtained from the “Office Locations and Contacts” Section of this page.
- You will have to submit Application in front of registering authority within seven days of purchase of vehicle along with the documents.
- The application shall be made in application Form no 25 to the RTO
- Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
- Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
- The physical inspection and verification of the vehicle is done in the respective office with the Transport Inspector posted before processing for renewal.

- To apply via National Transport Portal “Vahan”, applicant needs to apply for User Id activation.
- To apply for Uset Id activation, you can download the form via following link: User ID Activation
- Fill the required information as instructed and submit it to the State transport department RTO office of your area.
- After verification of the form administrative department will create and activate your user Id on the portal.
- Once your portal is active you can avail all the transport related services available on the portal.

- Apply for renewal of certificate of registration in Form 25 to the Registering Authority in whose jurisdiction the vehicle is, not more than 60 days before the date of its expiry
- Pay the due taxes on vehicle, if any
- Pay appropriate fee as specified in Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989
- Private Vehicles
- Registration Fee and Hypothecation fee (if loan taken from a Bank) are to be paid.
- ONE TIME road tax of 10 years is to be paid and subsequently, tax for every 5 years is to be paid after 10 years.
- Road Tax amount is dependent on the Sale Amount of the vehicle for all cars.
- Road Tax amount is dependent on the Unladen weight for all Two Wheelers.
- The Vehicle Registration Validity or Fitness Validity for a new vehicle is 15 years, after which, the validity may be renewed for every 5 years, depending upon the road worthiness of the vehicle.
- Commercial Vehicle
- Registration Fee and Hypothecation fee (if loan taken from a Bank) are to be paid
- Quarterly or Yearly Tax is to be paid.
- Road Tax amount is dependent on the Class of Vehicle.
- Fitness fee dependent on the class of vehicle is to be paid for all commercial vehicles.
- Fitness validity for a new vehicle is for two years only, after which the fitness validity is to be renewed every year.

- Every registration certificate is required to be renewed not more than 60 days before the date of its expiry of the registration for its continuous use. Renewal of the vehicle registration certificate is important as Vehicle Registration is mandatory under the law and is essential to prove the ownership of a vehicle. It is also required during the sale of a vehicle and transfer of its ownership.

To renew your vehicle, an application for the Certificate of Registration shall be made in Form 25, not more than 60 days before the date of its expiry, by paying the appropriate fee as specified in Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, to the Registering Authority in whose Jurisdiction the vehicle is.
