Apply In-Person
- In Nova Scotia, the applicant will receive a renewal notice to renew a driver’s license. The applicant will need to visit the nearest Registry of Motor vehicles office, and here is the link to finding the nearest office Link.
- Fill in the application form, enter all the relevant details.
- Carry all relevant documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant will need to carry their old Driver’s license.
- The applicant will have to pay fees, find fee-related information under the “Fees” section of this page.
- The applicant shall receive their new driver’s license by registered post within a few days from the submission of the application.

- To renew a license online, the applicant will have to visit the official Nova Scotia website, use the following Link.
- Click on “Continue”.
- The applicant will need to answer a few questions to determine eligibility.
- Click on “Continue”.
- The applicant will need to enter personal information such as their name and DL number.
- After entering all information, click on “Continue”.
- The applicant may be asked to upload original copies of documents.
- Click on “Submit”.
- The applicant shall receive their DL by mail within a few weeks from the submission of the application.

- The applicant must have a full licence (G, M class) that isn’t cancelled or suspended.
- The applicant hasn’t updated their address within the last 90 days.
- The applicant doesn’t need tests.
- The applicant has no new medical conditions that may prevent them from driving.
- The applicant should not have any outstanding fines or penalties.
- The applicant is a resident of Nova Scotia.
