Apply In-Person:
- To apply for Asbestos Worker Card in person, the applicant has to visit the Health and Safety Division of Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration.
- Address and contact details can be found in the following Contact link
- Before applying for the Card, the applicant may have to complete an Asbestos Worker Course.
- Visit the office and approach the relevant official who is responsible of receiving applications for Asbestos Worker Card.
- While visiting the office, the applicants should carry the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The official will direct the applicant to complete the respective application for obtaining the Asbestos Worker Card.
- The applicant has to complete the application with required details in respective fields under each section and submit it to the official with the required documents.
- The official will direct the applicant to pay the fees required for the Card. Pay the required fees through any of the available modes.
- After successful payment, the submitted application and attached documents will be assessed and verified.
- Upon completion of the assessment and verification, the applicant will be intimated through phone or email to collect the Asbestos Worker Card.

Need for the DocumentEdit
All workers in Nova Scotia who enter a restricted area due to an asbestos hazard must successfully complete the asbestos worker course and be in possession of a valid worker certificate/card.
Information which might helpEdit
- A restricted area is defined as an area of a work site where there is a reasonable chance that the airborne concentration of asbestos, silica, coal dust or lead exceeds or may exceed the occupational exposure limit for one or more of the substances.
- Workers working with asbestos in non-restricted areas must be trained in accordance with sections 21 and 37 of the Code. This training doesn’t have to be provided by any of the approved agencies.
