ProcedureEdit

Sending notifications by post

If you have lost, damaged or defaced one or both parts of the vehicle registration certificate, you must complete a Notification of lost or stolen vehicle registration certificate and send it to a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office along with a copy of your personal identification, such as a valid driving licence or a bank card with a photograph.

Sending notifications in person

You may also submit the Notification of lost or stolen vehicle registration certificate in person at a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office. If one of the parts of the vehicle registration certificate has not been lost, this part must also be handed in to a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office. Vehicle registration certificates are always produced in two parts, both of which must be replaced even if only one part has been lost.

Issuance of temporary vehicle registration

Upon receipt of the notification, a temporary vehicle registration certificate will be issued to the vehicle owner. The replacement vehicle registration certificate will be sent through the mail after 2 to 5 days.
