Norway - Replace Damaged / Lost Vehicle Licence Plates
ProcedureEdit
Lost Plates:
- Report the incident to the police: If you have lost or had your licence plates stolen, you must immediately report the incident to the police. It is not possible to get the same combination of digits and letters once licence plates have been reported lost or stolen.
- Apply for new plates:
- To buy new plates with a new combination of digits and letters, you must submit a completed loss notification form, certified by the police, and Part 2 of the vehicle registration certificate to a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office. If you do not use the loss notification form when reporting the matter to the police, the police report must also be handed in to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office.
- Pay for the new plates. The price of a set of licence plates for a passenger car is currently NOK 120140. The same applies if only one of the two licence plates has been lost or stolen. If this is the case, the other licence plate must be handed in to a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office.
