Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Building Inspector License, the applicant has to approach the Canada Municipality Department link Service Canada link

  1. Most provinces require a combination of education and experience in the field of building inspection.
  2. Typically, the applicant will need a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as relevant post-secondary education in areas such as building technology, construction management, or engineering.
  3. Some provinces may also require specific courses or certifications related to building inspection. Additionally, relevant work experience in construction, building trades, or a related field is often required.
  4. Many provinces have training programs or certifications specifically for building inspectors. These programs provide the necessary knowledge and skills required for the role.
  5. Research and enroll in any mandatory training programs or certifications specified by the regulatory body in the applicant’s province.

  8. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  9. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  10. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  11. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
  12. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  13. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  14. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  15. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  16. Depending on the province, the applicant may need to undergo a criminal record check or provide a police clearance certificate to ensure he/she has no relevant criminal history.
  17. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  18. If everything meets the requirements, they will approve the application and issue the applicant’s building inspector license.
  19. This entire process can be completed within 2 - 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
