Apply In Person:

  1. To Apply for Benefit Account Grant, the applicant has to approach the National Indigenous Agency link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. There is no fee for applying for Benefit Account Grant.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  11. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  12. The applicant has to visit the office to get the grant fund meeting.
  13. And the further process will be instructed by the office.
  14. This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Applicants applying for funding under this ABA Open Grants opportunity must:

  • Have an Australian Business Number (ABN) (exemptions may apply in special cases but not for individuals/sole traders).
  • Where relevant, be registered for GST.
  • If an individual is a permanent resident of Australia.
  • Have an account with an Australian financial institution.

  • The ABA is a Special Account that benefits Aboriginal people living in the Northern Territory (NT) established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The ABA receives monies from the Commonwealth based on the value of royalties generated from mining on Aboriginal land in the NT.

The new ABA Grant Opportunity Guidelines eligible activities have broadened since previous rounds, this includes:

  • Funding for multi-year projects.
  • An administrative costs or wages component for non-ongoing employees.
  • Projects that could be funded by the government or mainstream services but where the budget may not be available in the short term.
  • Projects where non-Indigenous Australians may deliver a service or project which benefits Indigenous Australians (please provide evidence of community support).
