Procedure

Apply Online:

1. To apply for an ECOWAS Residence permit online, the applicant has to visit the following link
2. The applicant has to click the “Apply Now” button.
3. Enter all the details in the application form.
4. Once completed all the sections as applicable, enter the code displayed, check the declaration box, and click the “Submit Application” button.
5. The Application ID and Reference number will be displayed, note it down which will be required afterward, and then click “Close”.
6. The details you provided will be displayed on the next page, check once, and if you want to change anything, click the back arrow and make the change.
7. Then, follow the same to apply. Scroll to the bottom of the next page and click the “Print Acknowledgement Slip” button to print the slip for submission.
8. The applicant slip will be displayed in a separate tab in which you have to click the “Print” button to print it. Then, click the “Proceed to Online Payments” button to make a payment.
9. The applicant will be directed to the next page which will contain two payment currencies. Select any one as applicable and click the “Continue” button.
10. On the next page, the applicant will have to select whether you are going to make a payment at the bank or online through the selected gateway.
11. Select an option as applicable and click the “Proceed to make payment” button. In case of bank payment, a payment request receipt will be generated, click the “Print” button and print the receipt.
12. Otherwise, the applicant has to enter the card details in the relevant fields and click the Pay button to make the online payment.
13. In either case, the applicant will have to present the payment receipt when you visit the office to submit the application form.
14. Make a printout of the above-completed form, attach the documents listed “required documents” section of this page, and visit the immigration office chosen during the online application.
15. Submit the application to the relevant authority at the office and your application submission process ends here.
16. Once all the internal processes got over and the renewal Residence card is ready for collection, the applicant will get a notification from the Immigration office and the applicant can collect it by any applicable means.
17. This entire process can be completed within 15 - 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Required Documents

• Application letter for ECOWAS Residence Card by Individual/Employer/ Embassy/ High Commission/ Diaspora Union accepting Immigration Responsibilities.
• ECOWAS Travel Certificate or National Passport valid for not less than 6 months
• Photocopy of Bio-data page of ECOWAS Travel Certificate or National Passport
• Two (2) copies of the applicant’s recent passport photograph
• Evidence of e-payment i.e. printed payment confirmation page
• Duly completed and signed application form

For Employees (the following are required in addition to i-vi above)

• Letter of Offer of Employment
• Letter of acceptance of the offer of employment
• Applicant’s credentials / CV where applicable.
• Evidence of registration with professional bodies (where applicable)
