Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for registering as a Teacher, the applicant must first take a Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) conducted by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.
2. For that, the applicant has to visit the State office of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.

4. Find a TRCN office as applicable to your location and visit the office to obtain a Registration form.
5. Complete the form as applicable with required details in the respective sections and attest it with your signature after completing.
6. Pay the required fees for the application process through any mode as prescribed by the officials.
7. After successful payment, attach the proof of payment and other documents as mentioned in “required documents” section of this page with the completed form.
8. Submit the application form and other documents to the relevant authority at the office.
9. After required verification processes, the applicant will be communicated through any applicable means with the help of contact details provided in application.
10. Examination date and corresponding date will also be communicated to candidates.

12. After that, your results will be published after a particular period of time and you will be informed about the further things to be done.

14. PQE Successful candidates are automatically made eligible for the registration. All they have to do is paying the registration fees.
15. Pay the required amount of fees and visit any of the State office nearest to your location with the proof of payment.
16. Present the proof of payment and some of the documents required for proceeding to register.
17. After all the internal processes get over, the applicant will be notified and asked to collect the proof of registration.

Eligibility

• Any candidate in Nigeria, holding any of the following qualifications is eligible: PhD with NCE, PDE, PGDE, M.Ed/MSc (Ed) or Masters in other fieldwith NCE, PDE, PGDE and B.Sc (Ed)/B.Ed or Degree in other fieldwith NCE, PDE, PGDE.
• He/she must have been successful in a Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE).

Fees

Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) fees:

• PhD holders in Education or with Education qualification (Category ‘A’): N5000
• Masters in Education or Masters in other fields with Education qualification (Category ‘B’): N4000N4000
• Degree in Education or Degree in other fields with Education qualification (Category ‘C’): N3500
• NCE (Category ‘D’): N3000

Validity

• The Registration is valid for 3 years.

Instructions

• The Registration is subject to annual fees that are to be paid at any Commercial Bank and the teller taken to TRCN office for documentation.

• A teacher is required to renew his/her license every three (3) years. However he/she must have paid his/her annual dues consecutively for those three (3) years for his/her license to be renewed.
