Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for a Diplomatic Passport in person, the applicant has to visit the office of the Comptroller General in Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters.
2. The address and contact details of the NIS Headquarters can be found in the following link: contact link
3. Visit the office with an application for the Diplomatic Passport in the form of a written request and also the other documents listed in the “required documents“ section of this page.
4. Submit the application request along with the required documents to the Comptroller General in Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters.
5. After submission, the application request and attached documents will be gone through by the Comptroller.
6. He/she will then forward the documents to the respective departments for verification processes.
7. On approval, the applicant might be called for enrolment of his/her biometric data (if all requirements are met).
8. Once all the processes are over and the passport document is ready to be collected, the applicant will be intimated to collect by any applicable means.

• Valid Identity card (Photocopy)

Eligibility

• Nigerian Diplomats and other top Government Officials in Nigeria as may be approved by the President are eligible for passport under this category.
• The applicant must possess an official identity card and an age proof.
• He/she must have obtained and possess a Certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission at the time of application.

Fees

• The application process is free of charge.
  

Validity

• The validity of the passport may be synchronized with that of the applicant’s position.

Instructions

• A person shall not hold two valid passports of the same type concurrently.
• At expiration of office, holding Diplomatic/Official Passport becomes unauthorized and must be returned to the Comptroller General of Immigration.
