Procedure

Apply Online

1. To apply for modifying or changing information in Passport online, the applicant has to visit the Nigerian Immigration Portal by clicking the following link:Link
2. In the page that opens, select the passport type, processing country, type of change required, enter other details and make selections as required and click “Start Application” button.
3. Since it is a fresh application, you have to select the “I am paying for Processing Admin Form” radio button before clicking the start button.
4. Application form will open with necessary fields. Complete it by entering your details in the fields provided as applicable.
5. After completing, click “Submit Application” buttonand the payment confirmation page with your entered information will be displayed. Select a payment option which you are comfortable with and click “Proceed to Make Payment” button.
6. If you select “Payarena (Cash At Bank)” radio button, your payment slip will be generated which you can print by clicking “Print” button and pay at the bank with the help of the slip.
7. Or, if you have selected “Card Payment” radio button, your browser will direct you to the payment gateway page in which you have to enter your visa card particulars and click “ok” button.
8. Complete the payment by following the on-screen instructions and also print the payment confirmation receipt which will be required when you submit your application at the passport office.
9. Now that the online part of the application process has been completed, the applicant has to write an application letter regarding the change of information in Passport and visit the passport office to submit the letter along with the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
10. Then, the submitted applications and attached documents will put forth for verification and validation.
11. After checking and finding that the requirements have been furnished properly, the officials will approve your request about which you will be notified.
12. Once approved, proceed to pay online for passport booklet by clicking on the following link:Link
13. Click on it and fill the form by making appropriate selections and entering your passport number. Then you have to select “I am paying for an Approved Data Change” radio button, enter the pass code issued to you and click “Start Application” button.
14. Then your payment page will open in which you have to follow the on-screen instructions and complete the payment for the passport.
15. Once all the necessary processes are over and Passport document is ready for collection, you will be notified and asked to collect the document.

Eligibility

• Any person in Nigeria, who holds a Passport that needs a modification or change in information that contains, can apply.
• The change may be due change of marital status or change of data due to errors made by the office.

Processing Time

• Change of name due to change of marital status (Married/ Divorced/Widowed): 5 working days after receipt of application
  
• Due to Correction of Errors: 10 working days after receipt of application
  

Replacement, addition, deletion and re-arrangement of names: 10 working days after receipt of application

Instructions

• Enter all the names(first and surname) as listed in your official identity document. If only one name is listed in your official identity document enter that surname.
• Please avoid placing suffixes with your surname.
• Please note that you can pay for your applications using any visa/master card.
• Applicants are required to appear at chosen Immigration Office for photograph and biometric data capturing if current passport is more than six (6) months old.
• Nigerians in the Diaspora are instructed to submit application at the nearest Nigeria Embassy/High Commission or Consulate.

• Card number and other particulars

Need for the Document

• A modification or change in the information contained in the Passport will be required when there is a change in the Passport holder’s marital status or where there is wrong information present in the passport.

• Administrative charges are non-refundable and payment of passport fees for such cases are subject to approval of application.
