Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for Meter Asset Provider in person, the applicant has to lodge an application to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

3. Visit the office and obtain an NERC MAP Permit Application Formfrom the relevant department.Or click here to download application form
4. Complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. The application should be signed and dated by the applicant.
5. Make sure that you attached all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Then, the application along with the required documents should be submitted at the Commission’s corporate headquarters.
7. Pay the required fees amount for the processing of the application, as directed by the officials.
8. On successful submission and completion of payment, the applicant will be issued with an acknowledgement slip.
9. Within a month, the commission will evaluate the application and it may require the applicant to provide any additional information, if necessary.
10. In case if the application is complete, it will be considered for the issuance of the MAP permit and the applicant will be notified by the Commission after a specified period of time, from the date of the application to collect the permit.

Eligibility

• Any company in Nigeria, that wishes to act as a Meter Asset Provider for any of the Distribution Companies under NERC, can apply.
• Every applicant company should have completed the procurement process in its area of business, as specified by the Distribution Company.
• After the procurement process, the applicant must have obtained a No-Objection Certificate from the Commission.

Validity

The tenure of a Meter Asset Provider Permit shall be for a period of 15 years.

Instructions

• All meters shall be installed in accordance with the Metering Code, Meter Asset Providers Regulations 2018 and the Meter Service Agreement to be entered between the concerned Distribution Company and Meter Asset Provider.
• The minimum monthly installations specified in the attached deployment plan (Gantt Chart) should be strictly complied.
• The required Performance Bond amount should be provided to the Distribution Company within 60 days of the grant of permit. The Performance Bond shall be in the manner and form required by the Distribution Company.
• Failure to provide the performance bond within the stipulated time and in the format prescribed by the Distribution Company will render the Permit and the Meter Services Agreement void.
• Regular reports should be rendered in the format and frequency prescribed by the Commission from time to time.
