Apply Online

  1. To become a certified electrical installation contractor, you should make your application online to the Nigeria Electricity Management Agency (NEMSA) through this NEMSA link.
  2. Once on the website, read the provided information under the application procedure for individual certification and prepare the soft copies of the required documents on your computer.
  3. Then scroll down the page and click on the “APPLY FOR INDIVIDUAL CERTIFICATION” button to be directed to the online application form A.
  4. Complete the online form accordingly and upload all the required supporting documents and then click on the “Submit” button.
  5. You will receive a notification informing you that your application was successfully submitted along with your application number. You will also receive a notification through your email address.
  6. Pay the processing fees via the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and obtain the payment receipt.
  7. Go to the NEMSA office in your region and submit the payment receipt to the service official at the reception.
  8. Then NEMSA will assess your application and inform you through your email address if you are eligible for citification or if you are not eligible.
  9. If you are eligible, you will be scheduled for an examination and you will be notified through your email at least one week to the examination date.
  10. On the examination date, you will go through a written competency test and an oral interview conducted by the certification panel.
  11. You will then be notified of the examination result two weeks after the exams and the oral interview.
  12. If you pass the exams, you will be required to pay the competency certificate fee through the TSA not later than one week after you receive the notification.
  13. Upon the payment, the competency certificate will be processed and issued to you within one month of NEMSA receiving your payment.
