Apply In-Person
- To apply for Dual Citizenship in person, the applicant needs to visit the Citizenship and Business Department of Interior Ministries.
- The address and contact details of the department can be found in the following link:contact link
- Visit the office and obtain an application form to be completed for obtaining a Dual Citizenship from the relevant department.
- Complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
- Once completed filling the application form, make sure that you attached all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Then, submit it in person to the relevant authority at the office. Make the stipulated payment as directed by the officials.
- After submission, the submitted applications and attached documents will put forth for verification and validation.
- After checking and finding that the requirements have been furnished properly, the officials will proceed to perform further required actions.
- Once all the necessary processes are over and the document is ready for collection, you will be notified and asked to collect the document.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- A Dual Citizenship will be required by persons who already have citizenship of a nationality other than Nigeria and belongs to a Nigerian family or citizens by descent according to the Nigerian Constitution.

- All the persons born before or after the Nigerian Independence date either of whose parents or any of whose grandparents belong to an indigenous community or is citizen of Nigeria are categorized as citizens of Nigeria by Birth.
- A woman belonging to another nationality who marries a Nigerian citizen and an adult person with a Nigerian grandparent who is born abroad are eligible to obtain a Nigerian Citizenship by Registration.
- An individual who can make a useful contribution for the progress and welfare of Nigeria who is also been residing in Nigeria for a larger period is eligible under Naturalisation.
