Apply In-Person:

  1. Every enterprise, desirous of obtaining Business Permit and Expatriate Quota, must visit the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs. The address and contact details can be found in the following link: address
  2. Visit the office and get an application form for obtaining Business Permit and Expatriate Quota (Form T/1) from the relevant department.
  3. Complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections.
  4. Once completed filling the application form, make sure that you have attached all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Then, submit it in person to the relevant authority at the office.
  6. You will receive the Permit once your application is approved by the Minister of Interior Affairs.
Note: Please note that emphasis would be placed on employment of Nigerians to understudy the foreign experts for the purpose of training them, to enable the understudies acquire relevant skills for the eventual take-over of the expatriate quota positions.

    • Certificate of Incorporation.
    • Memorandum and Article of Association.
    • Feasibility Report (should be certified or registered with Corporate Affairs commission (CAC).
    • Corporate Affairs Commission’s Form CAC 2.3 ^ 2.5 of CAC C02 & C07.
    • Joint Venture Agreement for partnership venture between Nigerian and foreigners. (original to be presented for sighting)
    • Company’s Current Tax Clearance Certificate. (Original to be presented for sighting)
    • Lease agreement for C of O for opening premises. (original to be presented for sighting)

EligibilityEdit

  • A company that wishes to employ a foreigner can obtain the Expatriate quota approval before processing a temporary work permit or Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Alien Card (CERPAC).
Note: For Business permit, the Authorized share capital must not be less than N10 million in respect of each Company.

Fees Payable

  • Processing fees- 25,000 N
  • Grant of Business permit - 50,000 N
Note: From time to time, fees payable for services rendered are subject to review.


ValidityEdit

The expatriate quota is categorized into two different types. Each type of Expatriate quota to be applied for depends largely on the nature, relevance and duration of the position to be held by the expatriate.

  • Temporary Expatriate Quota: This type of expatriate quota is given for the purpose of positions to be occupied by the foreigner for a short period of time.
  • Permanent until Reviewed (PUR): This is granted to companies to enable foreign employees, such as managing director owners of the business to work in Nigeria. As the name implies the expatriate quota is usually for a longer period of time to be reviewed at a much father date.
